Christina Aguilera & Skrux and Dan Flex

Today I have some music for you that is a remix of a song that I have been unable to get out of my head. This song was originally performed by T.I. and Christina Aguilera, but this remix features just her voice. Skrux and Collin McLoughlin turned this original rap song into a beautifully done melodic dubstep tune. And when I say beautiful, I really do mean it. This song is so wonderfully pieced together and produced. Skrux and Collin McLoughin turned this song into a darker, more emotional track, and I love that. Normally, dubstep is devoid of emotion, appealing to being an energetic and hype genre. But this rendition takes a more intense and serious turn, something that makes you remember those harder moments in life. When I hear this song, I actually think of a more futuristic battle scene, when everything is dark and people are fighting. And then the main "hero" looks back and sees everything that is happening, what is really going on around him. Honestly, this video's background is a pretty good picture of what I see in my head. What I imagine as the song is playing. Except instead of the stark white of snow, it would be those dark blues and greens that are often associated with galaxies. You know, I should just make a video for this song....But the fact that I am able to imagine this much while listening to the song is because of how incredibly well done the remix is! You feel every punctuated motif, every robotic march forward, every word that Christina Aguilera sings. I don't know why this song moves me so much, but it really does. This is the song of a warrior, someone who is trying to fight through something. Trying to get out of the walls that hold them, whether it is emotional or physical. This song emotes hardship and strength and redemption and I love that about this song. I mean, listen to this on a darker day, and it enhances the listening experience even more so. I get chills when I listen to this song because of how incredible this song is. This has got to be one of my favorite dubstep songs of all time. I mean I have not been able to get it out of my head for a couple of days now. It is so refreshing to hear dubstep that goes beyond being a mix of robotic motifs to something that has a story to tell. Christina Aguilera's voice is so gentle and vulnerable in this song. Normally she has a powerhouse vocal section in her music, but this one is soft and emotive and full of feeling. Her vocals are hauntingly beautiful, and they express the vulnerability and loneliness of being trapped behind walls. It is a simple yet powerfully evoking performance, something that takes us to a level of understanding and complete connection. That coupled with the darker undertones in the melody and harmony of the electronic music, create a song that leaves you kind of speechless. I am just so floored by this song every time I hear it. It is food for the soul. Today's instrumental song is by Dan Flex, and is a really cool ambient dubstep song. I did not pick it because of the title corresponding to the season. It is genuinely a good song! There are a few vocals in the background, but they add a really nice softness to the harsher dubstep sounds. Honestly, that is one of the best things about this genre. It features incredible voices and some sick beats. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
