Today's song is by the English DJ, Rusko. I have to say. this song is pretty damn great! It isn't one of those dubstep songs that throws a bunch of heavy lines together, but it actually has a melody, harmonies, and just the right amount of underlying bass. Plus, the vocalist is pretty good too! This song has a slower beat, like some rap songs, and it sounds awesome! It has been a long while since I have heard anything new from Rusko, so this is a nice change of pace. I guess what you would consider a throwback in the world of popular electronic music. Today's instrumental song is by a duo called Mustard Pimp. This song has more of an intense and pumping sound to it, so it sounds so freaking sick! This song and style of music is very unique, You hear other groups with maybe a couple songs that have the same feel, but Mustard Pimp makes this his signature and he builds off it in so many phenomenal ways! Today I have a song by a band called Gold Fields. I really enjoy this song because it has such an amazing sound. It definitely has a very typical indie sound, but there is something about this song that makes me love it so much! I just think it is a very well composed and performed song and the melodies and harmonies blend so incredibly well! Today's instrumental song is a cover by a very interesting band called Hurts, and I have to say this band makes me so happy! They have such an awesome and different sound that just works so well. Today I have a very interesting twist to a somewhat classic song. This song is one of the most well known Disney masterpieces, coming from one of the greatest animated movies of all time. Aladdin is first of all, an absolutely incredible movie. Second, the music score in this movie is absolutely spectacular. What really caught my eye when I went back to revisit these songs, is that Aladdin was among the first Disney movies to feature a very jazz-centric score and soundtrack. Every song has that great energy that comes with being part of a huge big band kind of song. So that in itself is such a one up compared to other Disney songs. Now what makes this version of the song even better, is that this version is song by the acclaimed R&B artist, Ne-Yo. Seems weird doesn't it? That is because no one would have expected a song like this to be redone by an artist like Ne-Yo. When you look at his track record of music, jazz and big band is not a part of that. Today I have some foreign music for you, in particular, some Bollywood music. I haven't posted a song like this in a long time so I thought, why not? The wonderful thing about Bollywood music is that it has the ability to be something so full of energy and fire and is something you want to dance to. However, it also has the ability to be the most beautiful thing you have heard, whether happy or sad, and it can touch your heart even if you don't understand the words. This song is one of those songs that connects to your emotions. This song is just so incredibly lovely and the balance between male and female vocals is perfect. These are two of my favorite Bollywood singers, Atif Aslam and Shreya Goshal. Both of these singers have voices that are like magic. Now I have to say, I do prefer Atif Aslam's voice over Shreya Goshal, however, the two of them sound so incredible together. Today's song of the day is a blend of cultures-Spanish and Indian. For those of you who do not know Enrique Iglesias, he is a global star from Spain who was many famous songs recorded in both Spanish and English. I realize that in the past I didn't do a great job of really introducing him because I did not find it necessary. Until a couple of days ago when I met someone who had never heard of Enrique Iglesias. It was quite an experience and a great reminder that not everyone follows the same train of music or follow the popular tunes as much as I thought. It has been a strangely long time since I have posted anything country, so today seemed like the kind of day to put on cowboy boots and strut that guitar. This song is by one of the biggest voices in the country music world. Jason Aldean is a rather popular artist from this realm of music because of his versatility. The thing with being a country singer is that it is often hard to cover multiple styles of sound. For example, if a country artist normally sings faster paced songs, it is generally because that is what they are best at. Now Jason Aldean is a little bit of an outlier because he kind of delves into different styles with his country music. This song is a great representation of the edgier side of country, something that Jason Aldean has mastery over. Today I have music for you by a band called The Summer Set. This song is like a breath of fresh air in the world of punk rock. This song is a great song to call the vacation anthem or summer anthem. This song is just bursting with energy and a fun feeling to it. I think this song is so appropriate for summer not only because it has that fun feel to it, but the lyrics talk about passion and love and freedom and excitement, all things that define how summer and vacationing is. It captures the feeling of driving around town while standing up out of the sun roof of the car. It brings that feeling of basking in the sun and playing in the surf.
