Atif Aslam & Shreya Goshal and The Thief of Baghdad
Today I have some foreign music for you, in particular, some Bollywood music. I haven't posted a song like this in a long time so I thought, why not? The wonderful thing about Bollywood music is that it has the ability to be something so full of energy and fire and is something you want to dance to. However, it also has the ability to be the most beautiful thing you have heard, whether happy or sad, and it can touch your heart even if you don't understand the words. This song is one of those songs that connects to your emotions. This song is just so incredibly lovely and the balance between male and female vocals is perfect. These are two of my favorite Bollywood singers, Atif Aslam and Shreya Goshal. Both of these singers have voices that are like magic. Now I have to say, I do prefer Atif Aslam's voice over Shreya Goshal, however, the two of them sound so incredible together. The thing with Indian music is that there must be chemistry within the song and between the singers. If the singers don't have chemistry then the meaning of the song is lost in performance. In this song we can clearly hear the chemistry and connection the two singers share for this song and it is also evident in the way they sing this song. It is sung with so much passion and emotion despite the fact that these singers are doing it for a movie. There is this romantic dreamy air to this song and it is one of those that you can clearly tell is meant to be a love song. And what a marvelous job they did with this song. The instrumentation is also phenomenal in so many ways. It is gentle and shimmers like a rippling pond. This is very key to the tone of the song because it doesn't make the song itself sound overly romantic, and lets the lyrics speak for themselves. These kinds of Indian songs are my favorite because while you can't do the typical Bollywood style of dancing, you can still dance to this song with your partner. You can sway, dance together, or even ballroom dance to this song. Whatever fits your fancy! Today's instrumental song is from the movie The Thief of Baghdad. This score has that very traditional style of romantic music, with the swelling orchestra and melodious winds. This song is one of those that you can automatically pinpoint as to what it should represent. It is definitely a beautiful piece and despite the classic sound it has, it still has the ability to really get to me. I feel this song in my heart which is one of the best feelings in the world. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
