Today I have some rock music for you, but this is a unique kind of rock music. This song is one that is a mix of swing, jazz, country, and rock. Weird, I know. Confused as to how that might work? Don't be, because The Record Company totally nailed it. This is the kind of rock song that a live band would play at a bar show or a local live performance. That kind of gritty and energetic and rowdy sound that only comes with being slightly drunk is kind of what this song reminds me of. And I totally dig it! This song in particular was featured on one of my favorite television shows out there right now. Suits tends to have a pretty kick ass soundtrack. So today's song is by the English DJ, Rusko. I have to say. this song is pretty damn great! It isn't one of those dubstep songs that throws a bunch of heavy lines together, but it actually has a melody, harmonies, and just the right amount of underlying bass. Plus, the vocalist is pretty good too! This song has a fast paced beat that is almost like underground dance music. And then we get this phenomenal bass drop into this dubstep sound. Rusko is an older DJ, but he has had such an impact in the electronic music world. In a recent interview, world renowned DJ Dillon Francis actually talked about how Rusko was the reason he pursued electronic music. Rusko has a way of making every transition completely smooth and seamless. And he has to transition from a more house sound to a heavy dubstep sound with this song. Today I have some music for you by the band known as The Colourist. This is a band that definitely stays out of the limelight, but I was so incredibly excited to hear their music being recognized. Kanye West recently tweeted about this song in particular and pretty much said that this song deserves a Grammy. And who am I to disagree with Kanye West? But in all honesty, I can definitely see where he is coming from. The Colourist is one of the best indie rock bands I have heard in a long time. Most of the bands that people listen to these days fall under the alternative side. At least, a lot of the big bands out there are alternative. But The Colourist is a band that really revels in their indie sound and makes it sound absolutely phenomenal. This is the kind of indie band that really makes you want to dance. Today I have some music for you by a solo artist who goes by Big Black Delta. There are so many things to enjoy about this song, from the melody to the lyrics to the music video. This song oozes classy jazz and creativity in all aspects. I like to classify this song as something that is like indie jazz. There are so many elements of this song that make it a jazzy piece. The assortment of brass and woodwind instruments kind of gives that one away. What I think is kind of cool though is that we can hear elements of a group that he used to be a part of shine through the song a bit. Today I have some hip hop music for you because it has been quite a long time since I have posted music like this. Today's song is by Bei Maejor. I am going to be completely upfront, this is quite a sexy song. I for one love that. Bei Maejor is an incredibly talented producer. He joined Ne-Yo's production team right after graduating which is quite the impressive feat. You can hear a lot of that Ne-Yo kind of style in this song. Bei Maejor does something kind of cool with this song. First of all, he produced it himself. Second, he keeps things simple. The music in the background is rather low key. He does rely heavily on the brass instruments, but other than that all we have is a standard drum beat and synth accompaniment. Bei Maejor also seamlessly switches between rapping and singing with his silky smooth and sexy voice.
