The Colourist and Beasts Of The Southern Wild
Today I have some music for you by the band known as The Colourist. This is a band that definitely stays out of the limelight, but I was so incredibly excited to hear their music being recognized. Kanye West recently tweeted about this song in particular and pretty much said that this song deserves a Grammy. And who am I to disagree with Kanye West? But in all honesty, I can definitely see where he is coming from. The Colourist is one of the best indie rock bands I have heard in a long time. Most of the bands that people listen to these days fall under the alternative side. At least, a lot of the big bands out there are alternative. But The Colourist is a band that really revels in their indie sound and makes it sound absolutely phenomenal. This is the kind of indie band that really makes you want to dance. Not necessarily club dance, but more of that feel good dance. There is such a great liveliness to this song and it is just so sunny and happy. This is a great song to bring on springtime and just enjoy the awesomeness that comes with Spring. The percussion used in this song is really on point. The way that The Colourist makes the percussion the source of the song's climax is actually pretty wicked. There is a general drum beat that provides a bass for the song, but right before the chorus we get an influx of heavier drum work and it sounds pretty spectacular. We actually get a little bit more guitar work in this song than would be expected, but the guitar melodies coincide with the keyboard. However, when we hit the chorus, the electric guitar really takes over and provides the main melody which is a nice change from the constant use of electronic work. The Colourist is just one of those bands that knows how to brighten your day and just make you smile. Today's instrumental song is from the movie Beasts of the Southern Wild. This movie is absolutely beautiful. There really isn't another way to describe it. This is a movie about living. Truly living. This is a movie about adventure and love and the unknown. This is a movie about really feeling alive in everything you do. This movie and this composition warm the soul in a way that so few are able to. From the rolling violins to the soaring brass to the singing strings, this piece has everything to make you see the world in such a beautiful and bright light. This is a song that makes you feel inspired and happy and loved and absolutely wonderful. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
