Keeping It Fresh

Today I have some music for you by one of my favorite hip hop singers/rapper, Trey Songz. I really like his style of music. It is different from most of  the music coming out right now because it has a smoother and low impact sound. This isn't a song that rages with energy, but it has that slower moving song that you get down to. The beat is slower than a lot of songs now and I really like that. It has a more intimate feel to it which is what I think hip hop and R&B should be more like. This song is meant to have a sensual and seductive feel to it and the way the song was produced with a lower energy, slower beat, and lower pitched song, it easily captures the idea of being sensual and seductive. This is such a great slow jam song to listen to, especially when you have a glass of wine and its darker outside. Its one of those hip hop songs that has a more sophisticated feel to it because it has a more mature sound. It is not focused on trying to make you dance like a mad person,...

Today I have music for you by a band known as Small Black. This song is a cool and chill song that really takes on the idea of trance and psychedelic music. There is something about this song that really captures your attention. I don't really know what that one thing is and it is so hard to discern when there are lots of amazing things happening in this song. For starters, there is a great correlation of the indie feel this song has with the idea of synthpop. I think the two styles melded very well together and made something entirely new. While still maintaining elements of the indie and synthpop feel, this song took a turn towards more chill style and dream style music. And that, that is one of the greatest things about music. You can start with two totally different things and end up with a new sound and idea. This song has very interesting vocal work. It is almost like a lower quality of recording because the vocals are so far removed from the rest of the music. There is an et...

Today I have a very interesting song for you by Stranger Family. Each of these members are actually individual artists who came together to make this song. There are so many different and interesting things happening in this song. It starts by introducing you to a strong electronic hip hop beat that really captures yuor attention. It has this cool intensity to it that makes you want to keep listening. This beat then segues into some Hindi rap which is something pretty much everyone is unaccustomed to. And guess what? It is good. It is really good. It doesn't have a "fresh off the boat" sound and accent to it which is just plain awesome. The rap fits really well and maintains that darker energy and it sounds pretty damn cool. But for all my English speakers out there, never fear because the second verse is done in English. This song actually switches between Punjabi and English which is pretty awesome because they do it seamlessly. It doesn't sound weird when they do i...

Today I have a really good song for you by the trio known as Cash Cash. It is kind of cool because two of the members are brothers, just like Jared and Shannon Leto of 30 Seconds to Mars. But anyway, back to the song at hand. This song actually did very well on the charts so you may have already heard it. But, you may have also not heard it so here we go! This song has really good combinations of many characteristics. The song opens with some nice and easy synth work and then builds up a little bit to the vocals. I really like the smooth simplicity of the synth in the background because it creates this steady under layer and switches between the same set of notes repeatedly, serving as the bass melody. This song does have an actual bass line to it, but there is also another melody going on with the synth work. Now the vocals in this song are really good and fit the style of this song in my opinion. To me, this has the feel of a summer anthem or beach song. It is one of those energetic ...

Today I have music for you by one of my favorite bands of all time-Anberlin. It pains me to say that they are on their final tour together, and then they will disband to pursue different avenues. Now this is extremely sad and almost depressing to me because I absolutely love this band. Seriously, I am in love with this band. I have yet to find a song that I do not like. This band is has the attraction of a band like Coldplay, but with a heavier rock sound. Now this song by Anberlin is probably one of the heaviest rock sounding songs they have. There are moments in other songs where a little bit of scream can be heard, but for the most part, the guitar heaviness is really heard in this song. This song has an awesome guitar sound to it because it is so simple but is very commanding of the entire song. The main verses of the song use this simpler guitar melody, but then you get to the guitar solo and the talent of the guitarist can be heard through the shredding and riffs. The chords have...

Today I have some music for you from a Hindi movie called Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. Now I have never actually seen this movie, but from what I hear, it is a really good movie. Let's be honest, most people don't pay attention for the movies and the movie plots that are involved but are more pre-occupied with the songs that come with the movie. Not only is Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani a supposedly good movie, I can tell you for sure that the songs are awesome! I actually posted a song from this movie a while ago, and it was a great dance song. But today, I have a very beautiful love song for you. There are so many aspects of traditional and modern Indian sounds, accompanied with a Sufi style, while also being able to carry a Western sound to it. When I hear songs like this from Hindi movies, I feel like I have struck oil, gold, diamond, and platinum all at once. The capability of these songs to be as beautiful and heart warming as this one is just incredible because some of these movie...

Today I have some country music for you because it has been quite some time since I have posted any. This song is by my favorite country singer, Hunter Hayes. He is one of the most talented artists that I have heard, and especially for his youth. Every song is an inside view into the talented world he seems to be a part of. Hunter Hayes is an extremely gifted guitarist along with being a multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter. Now this song in particular is one of my favorites because it has clever lyrics which make it the sweetest and heartwarming song. The main chorus line is very witty in the fact that he addresses the idea of heartbreak in order to convey his intense feelings for her. There is so much passion and strength and overall power to this song that does not fall on the side of heavy and intense, but rather upbeat and desiring. The whole song features Hayes's incredible guitar work, especially toward the end. His guitar solo features amazing riffs and chord chang...
