Trey Songz and Ender's Game
Today I have some music for you by one of my favorite hip hop singers/rapper, Trey Songz. I really like his style of music. It is different from most of the music coming out right now because it has a smoother and low impact sound. This isn't a song that rages with energy, but it has that slower moving song that you get down to. The beat is slower than a lot of songs now and I really like that. It has a more intimate feel to it which is what I think hip hop and R&B should be more like. This song is meant to have a sensual and seductive feel to it and the way the song was produced with a lower energy, slower beat, and lower pitched song, it easily captures the idea of being sensual and seductive. This is such a great slow jam song to listen to, especially when you have a glass of wine and its darker outside. Its one of those hip hop songs that has a more sophisticated feel to it because it has a more mature sound. It is not focused on trying to make you dance like a mad person, but rather really feel the music and the beat and the words and let them all kind of take over. Trey Songz also uses a calmer and more soothing tone to fit with the feel of the song. The vibrato he adds to the singing adds this extra something that is so hard to put into words, but when you hear it you will understand what I mean. I thoroughly enjoy Trey Songz's voice because it is softer and smoother even when reaching higher notes. It doesn't sound like gravel and it also doesn't have that accent that a lot of hip hop singers seem to adopt when they are singing. I don't know why they do it, but sometimes it is annoying and other times it is just plain disgusting. This song is a really nice one to sing to because it has a limited range but is a range that is very pleasing to the ear. The entire way this song sounds just washes over nicely and is something that your ears would definitely appreciate. Today's instrumental song is from the movie Ender's Game. Now this soundtrack is really incredible because each and every song was composed to create a subtle darkness. This subtle darkness resonates a thousand times over within the plot of the movie. If you have seen the movie or read the book, you will understand what I mean by "darkness." For those of you who haven't been exposed to Ender's Game, this book was written with a hint of social criticism. The book and movie are meant to be dark because they are meant to point out the flaws seen in the world we live in, the flaws that we try to mask over with glitter and glamour. This soundtrack accentuates that idea of darkness hiding underneath the layers of the world but also brings out the idea that not all is lost. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
