Twinbeatz and Punjabi MC

Today I have some more new music for you! This one is pretty interesting and I am very excited to share this one because of how awesome this mix is. We all know Ed Sheeran dropped an incredibly popular song, and it's pretty much everywhere. What a lot of people don't know, is that there is a Punjabi version of the song! Something I love so much is that we are seeing these kinds of remixes popping up more often. Hearing that cultural diversity is absolutely amazing, and a lot of times it adds this spice to the original music. To be quite frank, that is exactly what happened with this song.Twinbeatz came in and remixed this popular Ed Sheeran son, and it is pretty fun! This song has a completely different sound with this version of the song. A lot of times when we see remixes like this, producers just add a dhol drumbeat to the song and call it a "mixed" version of the song. Now while they technically aren't wrong, I am looking for something that is much more integrated and really takes on what it means to have a remixed song. Twinbeatz does just that. This song is more than your standard dhol beat background. We get a lot of traditional Punjabi and bhangra instruments in this song, and not only that, the actually electronic component of Ed Sheeran's song has been remixed. This is almost like a two-fold kind of remix, and I am a huge fan of that. In this song, we hear how Twinbeatz throws in a dhol, tumbi, flute, keyboard, and something which sounds oddly like a synth version of a harmonium. Even if you don't know what all of these instruments are, there is this overwhelming sense of culture mashup. Traditional and modern instruments are being used to make this remix, and we get sounds that are very bhangra oriented and very Western. Having that fine blend of sounds is what makes this song so good. This is such a good song to dance to as well. Now for any avid dancer, this song has a wicked beat and great rhythm, making it a great choice. Now specifically for people who are like me and enjoy bhangra, this is pretty darn epic. The way Twinbeatz remixed this song leaves so much room for Eastern and Western dance styles to combine. Not only is this a fun remix, it is incredibly well done and produced. There are not a lot of artists out there who are doing something like this, so being able to hear how different and exciting and lively these kinds of remixes are is wild. These cultural mashups are so much fun and add so much value to the original song. I hope Twinbeatz keeps doing what he is doing, and I cannot wait to hear more from him! Today's instrumental song had to be related to the first song of the day. Now I realized that many of you may not know what bhangra is. In essence, it is a folk dance which comes from Punjab. The dance style is incredibly unique and easily recognizable, so if you ever have the chance to see bhangra, it will definitely look familiar. And since we are on the subject, today's instrumental song had to be a bhangra song. There is a lot of Punjabi style music out there, and the different kinds of bhangra music are plentiful. I opted to go with something that is a bit more modern and has a lot more Western influences weaved in. I love mixes like these and can never seem to sit still when they come on. This particular song also happens to be the most popular bhangra song out in the West. There are many of you who have probably heard this before, either thrown into some DJ's mix (I have heard it during live sets) or in some kind of movie. Either way, this is a recognizable one!  I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
