Flux Pavilion and Seven Lions

Today I have some new music for you from the one and only Flux Pavilion. One of my friends recommended the song to me, and I am most grateful and glad that he did! This song features all the signature sounds of Flux Pavilion that we all love to pieces. There is a really smooth energy to the song and pairs perfectly with the raspy vocals provided by Turin Brakes. Something that I really like about this song is that it focuses more on Flux Pavilion's downtempo sound. And it works really well! By keeping the vibe of this song mellow, Flux Pavilion has created an environment for the indie singer to come in and sweep us away with her vocals. Another thing that is pretty different for this song is that Flux Pavilion shifts the overall musical focus away from the production and instrumentation. Instead, there is a sharp focus n the musicality of the vocals, and the instrumentation just becomes a backdrop for sensational voices. The music in this song starts out with a break beat bass line that isn't too energetic or fast paced. Flux Pavilion then layers on a smooth synth line which weaves its way in and out of the beats. As the track begins to build, we can all feel this anticipation for something that is going to be big and quite awesome. But what is super cool about this buildup, is that for a large portion of it, we only hear the vocalist. The only thing accompanied the vocals is a single synth line which switches from one long held note to another. For a buildup, this is quite strange and frankly, pretty unique. Most of the time, we hear buildups that increase the repetitive nature of a rhythm or line until it gets to be a fast paced and energized sound. But Flux Pavilion does an incredible job of keeping the song at a nice and chill feel. We get to hear the essence of a more chilled out and lounge-worthy song. When the drop does come, it doesn't end up being a massive blast of sound. It ends up being this epic release of energy and musicality which gives way to a phenomenal bass line. The drop is not too overpowering nor underwhelming. Nothing about this song is very hard hitting, but the song does have the potential to be just that if necessary. I think that is what strikes me so much about Flux Pavilion. There is a creative brilliance to the way songs are composed. This is definitely one of those slow jam, head-bobbing songs. But strangely enough, I have been very enamoured by that style of music. Flux Pavilion's latest drop definitely scored high on my grading scale. What about you? How well did this song score for you all? Today's instrumental song is by an artist who reminds me a lot of Flux Pavilion. In fact, there is a small group of artists that I put together to be music like what I hear from Flux Pavilion specifically. And so far, it has been successful! This song is by Seven Lions. Now I will say, I have noticed a slight streamline in the popularity of music that Seven Lions has been receiving. What is nice, though, is that we still get the same old fresh sound. This is definitely on the more chilled out end of music, which means it will pair very well with the first song. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
