Nat King Cole and Cinderella
Today I have some music for you from the age of slow jazz and smooth swing. Nat King Cole is one of my absolute favorite swing and jazz singers, and with holiday season in full decor, this seemed like the perfect accompaniment. Nat King Cole has a warm and rich voice that has the ability to melt any heart, and he does just that with this song. One of the best things about this era in music is that it takes romantic to another level. This kind of music is very sweet and hopelessly romantic, which is something we don't really hear often from music nowadays. But somehow that romantic sound translates over really well during holidays. Whether you celebrate Christmas or not, this time of year is one that is full of little treasures. From snow falling to warm cookies to sitting by the fire, there is a lovely coziness to this time of year. And of course, it is much more enjoyable with someone else. Which is why this song is so reminiscent of this holiday season. But this song is so incredibly romantic and sweet and all I want is to slow dance with a man to this song. It has that older kind of intimacy to it. The kind that makes you feel like you are the only two people in the world, swirling around and around on the wooden dance floor or under a snowy sky. Nat King Cole has a voice like honey, smooth and rich. But what I also love about his voice is that it has a much softer and tender feeling to it. You hear some of the other greats of the 1950's, and they all have these powerhouse vocals even in these slower songs. But Nat King Cole is able to make us feel that sweetness, that gentleness of love, and that overall warm feeling. He has this coziness to his voice, one that comes from a place of passion and heart I believe. Nat King Cole had this incredibly rich and full and rumbling baritone, which made him shine in the world of music. His voice is one that keeps you relaxed and calm and is completely mesmerizing. Another thing that Nat King Cole has over other artists is the clarity with which he sang. Every word is clearly enunciated and I can understand every phrase, every verse, and every chorus. Nat King Cole just had this way about singing, and he is a constant reminder of what a beautiful art form singing is. I absolutely love this song and wish that I could have seen him perform. But may his legacy keep living on! Today's instrumental song is from the new live action version of a Disney classic. Cinderella is among the princesses that live on in many girls, and is one of the most iconic Disney characters. This is a beautiful string composition which captures beauty and strength. The song itself is a magical and lovely piece, worthy of the Disney princess it was composed for. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
