Xilent and Wolfgang Gartner

Today I have some music for you that comes from a genre I have not posted about in an entirely too long of a time period. This song is by the Polish DJ who goes by the name Xilent. Now he is known for his dubstep and drum & bass production, which pretty much sums up the sound of this song quite nicely. This song is actually really interestingly done because of the way the song has its energy spread around. The song starts out with a slower and heavier dubstep sound, merging with melodic dubstep to become something that is both lyrical and electronic at the same time. The song brings us that intense and concentrated sound that melodic dubstep produces, but it still remains on the slightly slower feeling end of the spectrum. But then out of nowhere, we get this spark of energy where the beat seems to double time and feel more dynamic. But afterwards, we jump right back into that dubstep sound and pick up where we left off. Now normally, that would be a weird segue to have, but somehow Xilent manages to make it work! His production on this song is absolutely phenomenal, and creates something that tells a story rather than just having a throbbing bass line. The way he uses the synths to create shifting moods and powerful moments is something that is absolutely incredible. Xilent's talents and creativity run wild with this song, showing off his immense capabilities and skills. We get to hear his heavy sidechianing effects with this song, something that we usually hear from artists like Seven Lions. And having Ellie Goulding as the vocalist for this song couldn't have been better picked. She has a voice that was made for electronic music, a voice that knows how to be softer and gentle but ethereal and haunting at the same time. She brings vulnerability and softness where the song needs it, and provides a wonderful layer for the buildups. I am in love with what Xilent has done with this song, especially the way he brings up a style that seems to be bubbling beneath the surface of electronic music. Today's instrumental song is by Wolfgang Gartner. This song definitely isn't along the lines of dubstep, but it is such a wickedly fun song to listen to. There is non stop energy that is perfectly constrained so as to not go wild. The melodies of the song are also perfectly intense and mischievous at the same time, which seems like an odd combo, but it somehow works! Wolfgang Gartner is an artist who is immeasurably talented, yet doesn't really see much of the spotlight. However, this song is one that has propelled him forward. There is an energetic charisma that the song can't shake. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
