Beck and Muse

Today I have some music for you by the artist known as Beck. This song is incredible because not only is it a great sound, but it is a complete diversion from the style of Beck. This song is definitely one of my favorite songs by Beck because it is so different and has this air of depth to it. This song is very much like the ocean.  On the surface, it looks beautiful and soft, but then as the song continues and we hear more of the instruments, the tone of the song gets much deeper. It adds this darkness to the song and begins to sound contemplative, the same way the ocean gets darker the further down you go. The further you get into both the ocean and the song, there is an added sense of mystery. This song makes you feel like you are floating in the ocean, away from the coast and far from civilization. This song makes me feel like I am floating in dark water with the ribbons of clothing trailing out around me. It is one of those psychedelic songs that is that way because of the orchestral nature of the song. Honestly, this song could have been used in a movie because it has all the elements necessary to evoke feelings of mystery, eerie, haunting, yet something beautiful. This song is somber yet still elegant and beautiful. What makes this song very different is that it is cathartic. A lot of popular songs these days lack the idea of catharsis, making people feel a mental release by truly expressing emotions and expressing them strongly. Actually, most popular songs these days lack any kind of true emotional expression, and are all about partying and drinking. And this is the exact reason that I have this blog because I can expose people to the world of meaningful music. Beck provides us a song that expresses such strong emotions in such a stunning way. I love the way he repeats the word "isolation" because we really get the meaning of the song. That one word and his deep voice serve as perfect compliments to the brilliant orchestral piece. In case you can't, I am supremely impressed and in awe of everything in this song. Beck has the most phenomenal vocals and I could not ask for a better instrumental background. I cannot wait to finish listening to the rest of this album (which is new) and I will keep you updated! Today's instrumental song is by Muse. The first time I heard the Beck song, I thought of this song by Muse because both of them have that similar style of darkness. Muse is one of those bands that is so classic and epic for our generation. This song has a happier twist to it, but the acoustic version retains more of that darkness. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
