Die Antwoord and AWOLNATION

Today is day 3 of the ACL Festival line-up, and I've got some weird music for you. A music festival in Austin would be incomplete without the appearance of a popular artist who could also be the poster child for "Keep Austin Weird." Die Antwoord is a South African rap-rave group who takes the word "eclectic" very seriously. The creative outlet that Die Antwoord has is one that people either love or find to be a joke. Now I won't lie, my first experience with Die Antwoord left me pretty shocked and confused. I didn't know how I felt about the group, and even now I am still unsure. But what I can tell you, is that they have a huge cult following. Die Antwoord's style is described as "zef" which basically translate to modern-trashy. Which I actually really understand since watching them perform and listening to their music. The music itself isn't trashy, but the style makes it sound like a chaotic and raw kind of sound. Since I don't have an opinion about this group yet, what are your thoughts on the group? Is this a yes or no? Today's second song is by a better-known artist here in the States. AWOLNATION is an amazing artist, a band who produces his own music, writes the lyrics, and performs like a baller. AWOLNATION has his own style of electronic music, one that is a really smooth mix between being alternative rock and dance music. I really like AWOLNATION for their diverse style. Their songs sound unique in comparison to each other, something that a lot of musicians start to lose as time goes by. But this is a band that still keeps us on our toes! Today I have music for you by a band that goes by the name Clubfeet. This song has a really cool sound to it. When you feel like listening to indie style electronic music, this group is one that can satiate your desire, and do it with mad style. Clubfeet is a group which has such a smooth sound to it but the band falls on that psychedelic side of music as well. This song is one that is hard for me to describe because it sounds very familiar in the tonality and melodies but also sounds very original. Andrew Belle and Poldark

Today I have some music for you which airs a bit more on the bittersweet side. I have always been a huge fan of Andrew Belle. He has a talent and a gift for creating incredibly introspective songs. But what makes them so beautiful is that we know he is speaking from his heart, yet we end up looking at ourselves during the song. In this case, we don't take a moment to step into the artist's shoes. Instead, his music allows us to take the same journey of discovery that the Andrew Belle went through. Our outcomes may be different, and what we discover will vary, but we still go on this introspective journey which is universal. Andrew Belle recently wrote this song, and it had me absolutely spellbound. There is something so enchanting and mesmerizing about this song. And the thing is, most of Andrew Belle's music follows the same stylistic elements found in this song. What I think gets me though, is the lyrical quality found in this song. Bruno Mars and The Red Hot Chili Peppers

I have been hearing a lot lately that many people missed out on the half time show for the Superbowl. I tell these people that they have been missing out on quite a bit because Bruno Mars was brilliant. I didn't quite understand the necessity for The Red Hot Chili Peppers, but honestly I love that band, so who cares?! The segue into the Chile Peppers was awesome.  I for one totally enjoyed the show! Bruno Mars had such a charismatic energy about him and performed incredibly well. His band was so perfect in sync when they were dancing and looked pretty sexy doing it too. The harmonies were so beautiful between all the voices and the instruments. Bruno has this great chemistry with the other performers and doesn't stand out as one person but as a member of something great. Plus, his opening drum solo was pretty great and they dubstepped his song. So this posting is the Superbowl halftime show and the song performed by the Peppers.
