Madeon and Porter Robinson

Today I have some music for you from one of my favorite DJ's, Madeon. Not only is he a talented DJ, he is an incredibly creative DJ. His sound is one that I have not heard from any other DJ before, and I love that about him so much. This song is off his latest album, one that came out a little while ago, but is still one of the best things I have heard. Madeon has very colorful and sample heavy music, tracks that are not your stereotypical EDM tracks, but the ones that really stand out. Madeon's portfolio is strikingly versatile, something that I cannot really say about too many artists in the EDM world. His taste and range goes through so many fields, and even creates a field of its own, bringing a brilliant and cinematic sound to the world of electronic music. One of the things I love about Madeon is that he likes to collaborate with vocalists that are not he most conventional.  A lot of artists like to use big name artists, the ones who are always on the Top 40 hits. But Madeon's vocalists are more often than not, the artists who may have one or two hits on the radio, but their main following comes from those people who take the time to listen to the entirety of their albums and music. This song features Dan Smith from Bastille, a band that I know and love, but a band that is not necessarily the most well known. They do have a huge radio hit, but if you ask people what songs they know other than that, a lot of times they will come up short. That kind of level of popularity is what makes it so interesting that Madeon works with these artists. Popular, yet unknown, like himself. These artists come from the large spectrum of musical genres, proving that EDM is more than just one dimensional and unmoving additions to technology. Now back to the actual song, this is one that is a very interesting piece to listen to. I have never heard a song be as emotional and lyrically passionate in the EDM world as this song is. Dan Smith is an artist whose voice thrives on the more indie and pop based sounds. This song beautifully matches the tone of Dan Smith's voice while also capturing the stringy and orchestral-like melodies that Madeon is so famous for. The prominent drum beats also remind me of Dan Smith's work with Bastille, which is so beautiful because this is like a Madeon song infused with the work of Bastille. This is a actually a collaboration between artists, bringing elements of each other's styles to the production room. This is a song that has this warmth to it, but still has something nice and laid back about it so that it becomes one of those late night summer anthems that you listen to while driving down the highway with the windows down. Madeon captures this melancholy and depth that one does not normally find in EDM tracks. This is a song and album that is for pop and dance fans both, a masterpiece that is full of emotional and purposeful meaning. This is music that creates a lasting sense of euphoria, something you feel in your body and soul. Today's instrumental song is by another electronic artist who is brilliant. Porter Robinson has this wonderful ability to completely blow us away every time. This an artist who has given the robotic nature of EDM an emotional voice. Madeon is not super robotic sounding, but some of Porter Robinson's music has that sound to it. However, he makes it sound vulnerable and sweet. That is something thatI have yet to hear from another artist, honestly. It is so wonderfully done, and I love that Porter Robinson has done something so different with EDM.
