Bearface and Enya

Today I have a super chill cover of a very popular song from the past year. Bearface is one of my absolute favorite chillstep artists for a couple of reasons that we get to hear in this song. To start off, the production of this song is fantastic. I mean he took this song and made it something completely original. The tune is even different! I mean the actual vocal melody is the same, but the rest of the song is nothing like the original. This song almost has a magical kind of song, something that is really enchanting and has scintillating moments. The synths seem to glitter in the background, while the percussion takes on a lot of rhythmic complexities. There are actually a few different percussions in this song. We have the bass drum, steel drum, and these other more obscure instruments. Bearface has done so much with this song to make it completely different from the original. This version has this hazy atmosphere, something that is definitely more ambient. He takes this energetic song and slows it down into something that feels more like a hazy late night memory. This is something that is so ridiculously chilled out that you feel that when you listen to it. Everything seems to kind of blur and blend together, shimmering out of focus. It is dreamy and ethereal, not something that is solid and grounded. There is a lot of reverb in this song that gives it that delayed and slowed down feel, creating that shimmery haze. This is a song that induces softer colors but darker colors. Not a pastel color scheme, but more along the side of cooler colors, swirling in slow motion and making huge waves across the soundscape. Bearface also has these incredibly soothing vocals, and he actually changes up the way the chorus of the song sounds. So Bearface sings this at normal pitch, while including some beautfiully ethereal falsetto moments. However, he raises the pitch of the percussion melody to act sort of like a counter melody. That provides so much depth to this song, creating layers and substance to the song while also keeping the song light and free. Bearface also throws in his own harmonizing lines, which creates such a gorgeous effect on the rest of the melody. Now what is cool about this song is that Bearface includes lines from the movie The Perks of Being a Wallflower. I thought this was so brilliant because he layers these lines from the movie on moments of instrumental lines. And it works so well because the way the instrumentals softly play through along with the airy vocals, creates a splendid platform for the movie lines. And these lines also have so much relevance to the lyrical content of the song as well. I found this to be one of the most creative and different song covers ever. If this were released as an original, I would believe it because of how unique this song is. Bearface did a genius job with producing and singing for this and I love listening to his work. It really is a masterpiece! Today's instrumental song is by an artist that was once very popular in the very contemporary music scene. Enya is an artist that everyone seems to recognize even if they don't know her name. Her music is that which we can all recognize and that is something I find really cool. A lot of times it is easy to recognize the artist, but with Enya we oftentimes recognize her music and her talent before realizing or knowing who she is. This does have a much more spirited and lighter sound than the first song, but they both have this ethereal and magical kind of sound. This one sounds as if it has come out of a fairytale, which I think is so enchanting. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
