RL Grimes and Disclosure

Today I have some music for you by the DJ RL Grimes. Well actually, this is a remix of a popular song right now, but this song changes the entire sound of the original. This song is originally performed by The Weeknd. This is an artist who is known for his slow jams, and songs that are more along the sensual and seductive side of things. His songs are not necessarily very hype and energetic, which is totally okay! But with this remix, we get something that is the total opposite of that. Now this is no a happy electronic song. This falls closer to melodic dubstep in my opinion, but what I like about the remix RL Grime made is that it is very unique and original in its own way. This remix has a greater intensity to it, a sound that is great for the electronic music world. He doesn't necessarily let go of the sexy nature of the original song, but adding a build up and climax to the song takes away some of the sex appeal that this song has. There are definitely moments when this remix maintains that, but this remix is focused more on making the vocals meld with the heavier electronic work. And this is not easy! Especially since this remix is kind of in the opposite direction as a lot of The Weeknd's work. But RL Grime does a great job of making this song his own while still keeping some of the original song intent. I am going to be completely honest. EDM doesn't really set the mood. But RL Grime still does a great job of keeping some of that element of the song. The drop in this song is not a heavy drop either. It is just enough, heavy enough to impact and change the sound a little, but not too light to where it doesn't add anything to the song and keeps it going as normal. There is just enough of a drop to make it easy to transition to other sounds while still maintaining the beat and tension. So while this song is not really sensual, there is still that tension and crackling spark there. I am definitely a fan of this remix, as with a lot of work by RL Grimes. An artist worth checking out! Today's instrumental song is by Disclosure. This is a duo that is both underrated and very popular at the same time. Strange, I know. But it seems that while a lot of people know who they are, they don't really know their music. But I am hoping that more people will actually listen to Disclosure, because this is a duo that really knows how to make music. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
