He Is We & Owl City and People Like Us

Today I have music for you by the duo known as He Is We and features the lovely vocals of Owl City. This song is a cute love song, one of those songs that makes you smile because it is that adorable. This song has notable influences brought in by Owl City. That chime sound and the way some of the harmonies are done are very similar to the style that Owl City provides. It is quite lovely though. Because there are three vocalists, the chorus showcases really nice two part harmonies to go along with the chorus. The vocals that Adam Young provides fit like puzzle pieces with the female vocalization. The female vocals are blusey and have a hint of country to it. However, Adam Young brings this special softness that only his voice has. It is a sound that can be passionate and energetic but still maintains this soft tenderness and slightly higher pitch. Usually Owl City falls under some sort of electronic genre, but this song is completely acoustic. Adam Young blends in spectacularly with this different direction and this style falls under the style of a more folksy sound. This song actually reminds me of Colbie Caillat. This is a song I can clearly imagine her singing. It has that sweet calm and something about that makes it sound more genuine and real. There are so many romantic places I can imagine with this song, but all of them are in a state of tranquility. This is one of those songs that you would slow dance to, something that makes you want to get close with someone. The vocal trade off between male and female kind of represent that relationship which I thought was very nice. The vocalization in this song in general are quite splendid. There is no sense of trying too hard to be cute and sweet but there is a sense of really enjoying singing this because it has significant meaning in life. The guitar work in this song is very good as well. The guitar is what drives this song and provides the complimentary harmonies and bass line at the same time. The song opens and ends with the guitar, while muted and soft, still there. The guitar is accompanied by some strings and the violin line in the chorus sounds superb. This is just such a cute and sweet song, one that isn't too romantic but still conveys that message of love. Today's instrumental song is from the movie People Like Us. This really is more of a guitar piece that has the soul of the blues in it. This song is a very interesting style because it is something you don't really hear in movies. It has this bright melancholy to it. Oxymoron I know, but it still has that feeling to it. This song does have a small lyrical part, but even those have a slight melancholy and darkness to them. This song is very intriguing because of that conflict of emotions. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
