Bastarz and DMX

Today I have some foreign music for you because I realized it has been a ridiculously long time since I have posted anything sung in a language other than English. So today's song comes from South Korea, the world of K-Pop and some of the most deliciously catchy ghetto rap. The Korean music industry is actually a very interesting group of artists. On one hand, we have the stereotypical K-Pop groups. These are the ones that are all bright and pastel colored and happy and up beat all the time. And then you have the other side of Korean music, the darker and more badass kind of sound. This song definitely falls into that second category. Bastarz is the kind of group that doesn't get involved in the super happy and peppy kind of music. This song is actually a great introduction into their world of music because of how raw the song is in general. Like other groups that fall under the badass category, Bastarz makes great use of the EDM wave of music to further enhance their sound. I mean you hear this song and it is quite clear that almost all of their music comes from the ability to use programmable and electronic sounds and a DJ. What Bastarz does really well is combine the dance side of music with the more intense rap lyrics and performance. I mean now we do see a lot more of this, but the way Bastarz goes about it is so wicked! For starters, all the members of the group rap, and they all consistently have this amazing growl to their voices. That in itself already kicks the song up a couple of notches because it can be pretty hard to find that right spot between growl and scratching the vocals. But each member of Bastarz has a moment when they add their own growls and intensity to the verses, so that is pretty darn cool. But this song also seems to be really influenced on the idea of drops. And what is cool is that they opt for a genre that is not really used for songs with vocals. Normally we would hear something house or trance related. But with this song we get more of a dubstep kind of feel. This song has such an addictive beat that caters to all the EDM and trap and rap lovers out there. And for anyone who likes to get down and dirty. Now I know that seems really weird, but this song has the kind of beat that can either make you feel like a boss or make you want to hit the dance floor and try some new moves out. This is the kind of song that will allow you to bust out any and all of your hip hop moves. Bastarz has beautifully blended the world of rap and R&B with electronica. So thank you! Today's instrumental song is by DMX. I have no idea why the first song reminded me of this classic jam, but it just did. And if I was able to make that weird connection, that means that at least one other person has made the same connection. So kudos to whoever you are! But this song also has that kind of mix between hip hop and electronic music, though more of what we hear is along the hip hop route. But in all honesty, I think it compliments the first song really well! I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
