Jay Park and Eminem

It has been quite a long while since I have posted anything by a non-English artist, so today, I have some sick Korean music for you.  A lot of people have this preconceived notion of what Korean music sounds like. Normally, people automatically think of the K-pop groups and all the stereotypes that go along with K-pop stars. But, there is a whole other side to Korean music, and this is the kind of music I love. Today, we get into the world of Korean rap. What I love about this side of the spectrum is that things sound so bad ass and a lot of these songs have some sick instrumental backgrounds. These are the kind of Korean artists, and artists in general, that know how to make wicked music with the use of electronic work and bass. Diplo has been known to work with Korean artist that fall into this part of the spectrum, and holy hell it is incredible. So with that knowledge, I think it makes it a little easier to understand where this kind of music comes from. This song in particular is by Jay Park and features some of the biggest Korean rappers. Believe it or not, Korean rap is one of the sickest things I have heard. Korean hip hop is really nasty and it definitely tends to take people by surprise the first time they hear it. But there is something so completely captivating by the way the music works. Jay Park opens this song with this sexy grunt and then bursts into rhyme. And then we get to the chorus which is pretty self explanatory as to what the message is. But the way the chorus is presented, angry and intense, is pretty freaking wicked. The other Korean rappers featured in this song are phenomenal as well, and I really like the way they all work together and feature in each other's music. The background music for this song also captures that angry energy. There is a thug kind of sound incorporated in the way the music for the song works There are definitely elements of American R&B in this song, especially the way the percussion works. I am also a huge fan of the bell work that happens in this song because it adds this sense of danger that I just can't help but find awesome. But the surrounding synth and bass line and overall programmed music is so specifically part of the electronic world. And I love the way Korean rap expands those horizons. They embrace different kinds of popular elements to create a song like this-something completely bad ass. Today's instrumental song is by an artist that world seems to know and love. Eminem is one of the biggest rap icons, if not the biggest rap icon. His influence in the world of rap is absolutely incredible, and the way he changed the rap game is simply inspiring. This is a man that the world needs to always be watching for because you never know when he might surprise us. This is one of his angriest songs, but one of the greatest disses the world has ever seen. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
