Jay Park and The Wanted
Hey guys! I am sorry about last night's post not happening. That point in the season has arrived where people start to get sick and if you are like me, aren't able to do anything because you are that sick. But I am back today and hopefully, I will start feeling better. Today I have some music for you by Korean artist Jay Park. Now I know that a lot of people automatically think of K-pop when the phrase Korean Music is heard. I used to be one of those people! But there is so much more to Korean music than what most people believe. For example, today's song by Jay Park has nothing that sounds like the typical K-pop song. Jay Park has a very westernized take on music, but blends in the Korean lyrics very well. In every song that Jay Park has done, he has seamlessly incorporated the English lyrics and the Korean lyrics together in a way that is a bit like embedded quotes. Sometimes he switches languages between the verses, but during the chorus he uses each language to finish the lines. If it starts out in English it ends in Korean and vice versa. Jay Park is also an extremely talented singer and rapper. A lot of the modern day hip hop and R&B can be heard in this song. The way he sings is very much a hip hop style and the guy can rap pretty well too. Jay Park has a really nice voice to listen to as well, which serves as a great bonus. Believe it or not, he sounds that good live as well. Now this song features Dok2 who does most of the rapping in this song. I think he was a really great addition because it adds a little bit of an edge to the song. Dok2 is one of those fast rappers who actually sounds good while doing so. The two of them together sound pretty darn amazing. Now there are some parts of this song that are very similar to K-pop. For example, the music video features a lot of choreography. Now I have to say, this is some wicked choreography and it is executed so well. I think that might be one of my favorite parts of K-pop. Yeah the music is really good, but it is also something you can dance to and the artists themselves dance to their songs as well. All in all, Jay Park is one of those Korean artists that have me clamoring for more of their work. He is a singer worth discovering more about in the music scene. Today's instrumental song is a song by The Wanted. Both of these songs have that electronic and synth twist to their music. The Wanted in this song give us their splendid vocals, but they also have a pretty sick background track. This instrumental has a little bit more of an energetic feel to it, but it still has a little bit of that hip hop sound. This does however fall more heavily on the side of electro pop. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
