Gabrielle Aplin and Sherlock

Today is a slower song by the artist Gabrielle Aplin. This song is particular is not one that you would remember for a great beat or a cool sound, but rather, the poignancy and deep power in the song. The lyrics convey so much emotion and the soft guitar work and vocalization adds a heart wrenching element to this song. I won't say this is a song that would make you cry, but it is a song that would make you reflect on things that are weighing you down or things you are not proud of. Today's instrumental song is from the BBC series, Sherlock. I am totally hooked on this show and it is rather upsetting that there are only 3 episodes per season. But this is taken from the wedding that occurs in the third season. Beautiful mastery of the violin coupled with an eerily romantic melody make this a masterpiece. Today's song is a really cool one out of South Africa by the band Kongos. There are so many awesome things happening in this song. For example the first sounds you hear is this really sick accordion work, and yes, these guys made the accordion look even cooler than any other musician out there has. I love the way they use the accordion and the tone of it. And then you hit the chorus which has these really strong vocals and you get the feel from the multiple voices with these sweet guitar licks and such a loud presence with the electric guitar. This song just kicks some major ass! Today's song is by the Beastie Boys, and is one of my favorite songs by them. Zayn Malik and Interstellar

Today I wanted to give a shout out to an artist who is both very famous and very underground. Most people know him as Zayn Malik, that guy who was in One Direction but left the band. So a little background, Zayn Malik was one of the five members of the famous boy band, One Direction. His departure from the band was all over the news last year, and I wont' lie, I felt bad for him. Not because he left the band, but because of what that meant for him in the public eye. It marked him as a huge target for papparzi and press, and I just feel so bad for him because he had to live in that public eye for so long. Which is one of the reasons why he wanted to leave. To live his life more quietly. So that of course, is a consequence of his level of fame. But on the other hand, we have his more quiet and surprising side. Hello, hello! It has been quite a while since I last dropped a post on the blog. I want to go ahead and send a huge shout out to everyone who has been patient with me, and the more sporadic nature of my writing.
