Pierce Fulton and Galantis

Image
Today I have some new music for you out of the world of EDM and electronic music. Today's first song is by Pierce Fulton. Honestly, I think he is an underrated artist. Pierce Fulton knows how to produce music that will rile up the crowd. There is always this insane amount of energy and sound that you can't help but jump and move and at least headbang some. This song is an explosion of sound and color. Now I know it is strange to think of a song as having a color, but when you hear a song and imagine, there is always a color that comes to mind. And with this song, there is this beautiful display of color from all ends of the spectrum. This song is just so lively and energetic and wild! I like that wildness because it is that of the world that is truly alive and truly living. Pierce Fulton does an amazing job of keeping the energy level at one that can be sustained and toned down when necessary. This song features vocals by the artist Polina. I didn't think she really ...

Jay Park and Maroon5

Today I have music for you by one of my favorite Korean artists. Jay Park is quite the performer and an incredible singer. What I love about him is the fact that he raps and sings in both Korean and English and nails both styles of performing. Yes, this is a more romantic and less intense song, but Jay Park is not limited to songs like this. Actually, this song is one of the more anomalous songs in the fact that it is sweet and smooth and comforting. Normally, Jay Park has a more intense and energetic and dance-vibe sound, but this one has this cozy and sweet and lively. This song is one of those cute love songs that isn't slow and romantic, rather it is more like a springtime energetic vibe. This is a song that has a nice head-bobbing vibe that also has this thumping beat that makes you want to sway. There are also these really nice subtle piano keys that make you want to just move to the music. I also love the background brass instrument. They add this depth and lovely twist to t...

Lootera and Explosions in the Sky

Today I have some music from you that comes from the world of Bollywood. We are seeing an interesting shift in the musicality of Bollywood cinema. On one hand, we have an evolution of music towards a more electronic and EDM based dance style. Many of the popular dance numbers today have that EDM base or some kind of electronic music base. And then we have music which takes another route entirely. This song is one of those. We are now seeing a new kind of music movement within Bollywood, which includes the use of guitars and typical rock band instruments. Lyrics are also becoming simpler, but convey the same kind of meaning. I will say, in the past, many romantic songs had lyrics that would simply take your breath away. I can't say the same for today's music, however, the overall musicality of the songs is what leaves you breathless. This evolution is very interesting to see because of how vastly different it is from the rest of Bollywood's music. I like this newer and emerg...

Panic! At the Disco

Today I have some music for you that comes from a band that has so much nostalgia attached to it. Last night, Panic! At the Disco played a show in Austin. Now many of you who have been following the blog for a while now, know that I like to report on the concerts I have been to. You probably also know that I frequent a lot of concerts. Keeping those thoughts in mind, I have to say, Panic! At the Disco was one of the most incredible and well-done shows I have ever seen. The lead singer, Brendon Urie, is one the most incredible and talented entertainers of our time. Not only can the man write songs and sing, but he can play multiple instruments and dances incredibly well. To top it all off, the man can perform so many different genres, and it is absolutely fantastic. So when I say that Panic! At the Disco was one of the greatest shows I have ever seen, it isn't a joke. Even before the show started, there was a theatrical aspect to the show. From beginning to end, the concert was rive...

Thirty Seconds to Mars and Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith

Today I have some darker music for you. This is by one of my favorite bands of all time- Thirty Seconds to Mars. This is a band that has consistently delivered incredible music even in the wake of evolving their sound. I won't lie, I am mildly in love with Jared Leto. I mean the man is extremely gifted and versatile. From producing music to creating music videos to being one of the most low key-brilliant actors of our generation, Jared Leto is a man who expresses things so well. This song is one of my favorites by the band. It doesn't use the conventional band instruments as much as it does use synths and keyboards and strings. This is a song that is weirdly gut wrenching and pulls at your heart. But not in a sad and romantic. This is more of a personal battle, a fight with yourself, and that anguish is what we really get to feel and hear in this song. And we get that feeling the most from Jared Leto's vocals. In this song, we get a more raw version of his vocals, a sound t...

Vicetone and Zedd

Today I have some awesome music for you from the electronic duo known as Vicetone. One of the characteristics of Vicetone that I love is that they are masters at producing and remixing. Not to say other DJ's cannot. But Vicetone has this incredible creativity woven into their music that I cannot shake. This song is probably my absolute favorite example of their creativity.Vicetone decides to feature an incredibly important man, one who will go down in history because of the amazing things he accomplished. Ladies and gentleman, today I am bringing you a song that has taken a President speech and made it musical verses. As odd as that may seem, Vicetone makes it work really well. To open the song, they have inserted the beginning of one of Obama's speeches. The intro is a little bit longer, but this particular part of Obama's speech sets the song up and the title incredibly well. Vicetone then softly brings in the main rhythmic melody of the song. It flanks Obama's speech...

Graffiti6 and The Bravery

Today I have music for you by one of my favorite music projects out of London by the name Graffiti6. I have posted quite a bit of music by them in the past, and I think for good reason. Graffiti6 is one of those  low key  bands that a few people know about, and even fewer know how far their influence really goes. Graffiti6 is comprised of two musicians, Jamie Scott and Tommy Danvers. What many people don't know about these two is that they are  unofficially  members of the boy band One Direction. Jamie Scott is the guy responsible for writing a lot of One Direction's big hits and romantic ballads. He really is the sixth member of One Direction, or should I say  fifth  member now? Either way, we already have a taste of Jamie Scott's lyrical talent, and see even more of it with his work with Graffiti6. The thing about Graffiti6 that I love so much is how soulful the band sounds. A lot of the musicality of the song has this offbeat pop sound, with some funk th...
