Panic! At the Disco
Today I have some music for you that comes from a band that has so much nostalgia attached to it. Last night, Panic! At the Disco played a show in Austin. Now many of you who have been following the blog for a while now, know that I like to report on the concerts I have been to. You probably also know that I frequent a lot of concerts. Keeping those thoughts in mind, I have to say, Panic! At the Disco was one of the most incredible and well-done shows I have ever seen. The lead singer, Brendon Urie, is one the most incredible and talented entertainers of our time. Not only can the man write songs and sing, but he can play multiple instruments and dances incredibly well. To top it all off, the man can perform so many different genres, and it is absolutely fantastic. So when I say that Panic! At the Disco was one of the greatest shows I have ever seen, it isn't a joke. Even before the show started, there was a theatrical aspect to the show. From beginning to end, the concert was riveting and exciting and haunting and absolutely phenomenal. Panic! At the Disco likes to emulate this vaudeville and steampunk carnival kind of vibe, and we got a taste of that from the concert. The production of the concert had lights and fire and graphics and fireworks, as well as a rising stage. A piano rolled out from underneath a raised stage as well, glistening like gold in the stage lights. Panic! At the Disco has an incredibly theatric kind of performance, but what makes them stand out beyond their general theme, is the fact that the musical aspect is just as amazing. A lot of times we have shows that have a great production value but a subpar musical performance. However, Panic! At the Disco gave us a show that I will always remember. Brendon Urie was incredibly engaging even though he didn't speak much. There are a lot of artists who chit chat with the audience and strike up a conversation. But Brendon Urie didn't really do that. He was engaging by the way he performed each song. It was inviting and welcoming, bubbly and fun. Each time he would get really into a song, it was like he was bringing the audience into his little world. Even the other band members had that same kind of energy. The horns section of the band had these awesome coordinated dances and that just invited us to join along. Brendon Urie also pulled out these sick dance moves, including a beautifully executed backflip off steps and back onto the stage. Musically, the show was also stellar. I was ravenous for more once the show finished. Brendon Urie is an incredibly underrated vocalist, and I really got to hear that from this concert. Each song that he performed was unique, and he would throw his own little twists in there. Brendon Urie would bring out these lovely harmonies and unbelievable falsetto moments that blew me away. The vocal range the man has is simply astounding. Going from these hearty, deep, and rumbly lower notes to cleanly executed falsetto notes is something that Brendon Urie does without batting an eyelash. And we got to hear him take his own songs and re-create them on stage to become new and different. I absolutely love how creative he got on stage, and how phenomenal the band was for keeping up with that. The instrumentation work I got to hear from the band is out of this world. There are so much life and character in the way the band plays, and that is something I cannot get over. Panic! At the Disco played songs from their origin to their current stage, pulling out popular songs and songs that I have fallen in love with. They performed a smooth and seamless medley with songs from their debut album, and played some of their creepier ones too. Brendon Urie also performed a couple of different things for us. First, a drum solo to songs by Bruno Mars and Rihanna. Second, they performed a cover of a song that the band is very well known for. That is right, a certain popular song by Queen was covered, and my god was it phenomenal. Freddie Mercury would be so proud to hear and see how the song was performed. The intense moments, the softer moments, and the pop moments were also so beautifully arranged and performed that I couldn't help but get excited. An acoustic version of one of their more popular songs was also performed, with a piano on a floating stage. It was pretty much epic. There was so much that happened at this concert that I would need some serious time to think and reflect on how mind blowing and wonderful the band is. From my middle school years till now, Panic! At the Disco has been with me, and as I have grown, so has their sound. I absolutely love this band and am so proud to say that I attended one of their concerts. So today, I am bringing you music by this band which I love so much. These are only a couple of the songs which I like, but it is two enough to get you see why I love them so. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
