Pim Stones and Henry Krinkle

Image
Today I have some music for you by the singer, songwriter, and producer known Pim Stones. My first exposure to Pim Stones was through a show called Teen Wolf. And while the show is definitely a guilty pleasure of mine, I cannot deny that the music is really good. Looks like some things about MTV remain! One of the reasons why I really like this song is because it kind of has a distinctly British underground sound. There is an underlying musical vibe that comes from the British underground scene, and this one carries the vibe it had from a few years ago. The song is really smooth and chilled out, but still, has some dynamism and quirks to keep it interesting. When I listen to this song, I think of colors, with no specific images in mind, rather, a great collection of some softer and more muted colors, even pastels. Pim Stones is a very great artist because when he makes music, it has no method in mind, and I feel like that mental coloration reflects that. There is no formula to his mus...

MIKA & Ariana Grande and Monsters University

Image
Today I have music for you by an incredible solo artist who goes by the name Mika. This song is one of the earliest to involve Ariana Grande before she became famous and when she sounded like a normal human instead of a child. I know, that is slightly rude but it had to be said. I won't deny her talent, but her old style is much better than her new stuff. Anyway, this is one of favorite songs produced by Mika. This man is a very talented vocalist and I love the type of songs he sings. Yes, they do have that pop feel to it, but it isn't your standard kind of pop. This song is so much fun to listen to because Mika and Ariana Grande harmonize so well together and this range allows the song to be more upbeat and exciting. This song has such a great beat to it and the instrumentation is a mix of pop and jazz and swing which I thought sounded really good. Mika has that very distinct and unique style that fits only him and this song really makes use of that style. The thing about Mika...

Gioni and TNGHT

Image
Today I have a really sick remix of a popular Diplo song by the trap DJ Gioni. Since today is all about trap music, I decided to post this remix. This one is a really interesting because it plays with a different harmony for the synth line than the original song. But wonderfully enough, it works so well! This harmony is almost like a piano, which is definitely different for a trap song. But the drop for this song is pretty incredible as well. It isn't the normal kind of drop you would expect, but the way it sounds gives it less of an intense sound, but more of a hype sound. To me, those are the two sides of trap music- intense and bad ass vs hype and energetic. This song definitely falls under the latter, and this is mainly because there is less bass and a less dramatic drop. But that is what makes this song great for a hype song. I definitely work out to this song, especially when lifting weights. It has that perfect beat for it, and it is a beat that is heavily pronounced and eas...

Jessie Ware and Burnt

Image
Today I have music for you by the English singer-songwriter Jessie Ware. She is an artist that really go into the spotlight this past year, and it can be seen as to why that is. To start out, Jessie Ware likes to air towards the side of atmospheric music, going with more ambient songs, especially the ones that leave you in the feels. This song is almost hypnotic, with airy and breathy vocals that flood your ears and leave you in a trance. This song definitely has more of kick back feeling to it, a calmer and more controlled instrumental sound. This goes very well with the soaring falsetto that Jessie Ware brings forth in this song. This song is an unapologetic explosion of passion and sparks and love. This is a firework of a love anthem, one that has shimmering synths and warm bass thrums. This song has this cool 80s and retro kind of sound to it, although, it is not the peppy kind of sound that most people expect. This song has a darker kind of twist on that retro sound, making it a p...

Matt Bomer and J.Cole

Today I have some music for you from a rather unsuspecting artist. Now, before I reveal who this person is, I would like to point out how awesome it is that there are so many different talents that some of our favorite stars have, and how we often don't know about these hidden tricks. But this sexy serenade is done by none other than one of the steamiest men on the screens, Matt Bomer. That's right ladies and gentleman, not only is this man a fantastic actor, but he is a damn good singer. I didn't actually know that this song was sung by him until I looked it up on Spotify. Needless to say, I was pretty much mind blown. I had no idea that Matt Bomer could sing this well and seductively. Like I said, lots of little surprises here with this entertainment industry. But this song is not only well sung, but the production and instrumentation of it is absolutely phenomenal. This is meant to be a slow jam, the kind of song that is more about setting the mood and creating that kind...

Clubfeet and Tove Lo

Image
Today I have music for you by a band that goes by the name Clubfeet. This song has a really cool sound to it. When you feel like listening to indie style electronic music, this group is one that can satiate your desire. This group has such a smooth sound to it but it falls on that psychedelic side of music as well. This song is one that is hard for me to describe because it sounds very familiar but also sounds very original from what I have heard before. I feel like this is something that could be featured on an episode of Teen Wolf. It has that independent and unique vibe and sound that no one else can copy. I am a huge fan of the way the vocals are presented because it is done so with layers. It is never just one voice and one sound you hear from the vocals, but many harmonies and different ways of singing the same lines. Something about that is very much like Imogen Heap's style of vocal layering. I also like the fact that they do maintain the conventional band instruments while...

Pierce Fulton and Lost Frequencies

Image
Today I got the chance to see two incredible DJ's! Pierce Fulton and Lost Frequencies absolutely killed the show tonight. I won't lie, I think this show may have been better than Zedd's! Pierce Fulton had a set that played not only his songs, but a lot of great mixes and remixes. Lost Frequencies is a DJ I am less familiar with, but his set had some of the best live house I have heard. While today's post was short, I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free t comment!
