In Remembrance

Image
Today is a rough one. Yesterday marked the anniversary of one of the most tragic events in American history. It marked the day that America watched the towers fall. It marked the day people all over the world joined together in prayer and love and support. But I am sad to say, as of yesterday, it also makes the passing of family. Biologically, we were not related. But this man was father to one of my best friends. A role model, a loving figure, and an incredibly kind and gentle person. I cannot understand why these things happen. I wish I had the words to convey the pain I feel for the kids and wife. I wish I had the words to comfort them and let them know that time can heal. But my words fail me now. And all I can do is be there. So my posts may be a little more sporadic these next few days. But I wanted to tribute this post to the man who was a father figure to me. A man who watched me grow up, and a man who never let me forget how much I was worth. I love you, and may you be with yo...

Hunter Hayes and The Perks Of Being A Wallflower

Image
Today I have some country music for you because it has been quite some time since I have posted any. This song is by my favorite country singer, Hunter Hayes. He is one of the most talented artists that I have heard, and especially for his youth. Every song is an inside view into the talented world he seems to be a part of. Hunter Hayes is an extremely gifted guitarist along with being a multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter. Now this song in particular is one of my favorites because it has clever lyrics which make it the sweetest and most heartwarming song. The main chorus line is very witty in the fact that he addresses the idea of heartbreak in order to convey his intense feelings for her. There is so much passion and strength and overall power to this song that does not fall on the side of heavy and intense, but rather upbeat and desiring. The whole song features Hayes's incredible guitar work, especially toward the end. His guitar solo features amazing riffs and chord ...

Band Of Horses and Titanic

Image
Today's song is by a lesser know band called Band of Horses. The lead singer has a very distinct voice and style of singing that is very soothing and it sounds great with the music. The song is kind of sad, but I really love this band and this song. Its so nice to listen to when its raining outside....this song is a beautiful blend of soft, soothing music and rock. Band of Horses is a band that really knows how to get into the depth of music and lyrics combined. The lyrics are not always as easy to understand and the music is gull of complexities which gives the song depth. Though the instrumentation seems simple and clear cut, there is more happening in the background than you may realize. I think that is one of the things that makes Band of Horses stand out. They maintain their style of music and character throughout, but add many layers of separate thoughts and ideas to make up what we hear now. This is a band worth checking out in the future and just to really listen to. Today...

Rusko and Mustard Pimp

Image
Today's song is by the English DJ, Rusko. I have to say. this song is pretty damn great! It isn't one of those dubstep songs that throws a bunch of heavy lines together, but it actually has a melody, harmonies, and just the right amount of underlying bass. Plus, the vocalist is pretty good too! This song has a slower beat, like some rap songs, and it sounds awesome! It has been a long while since I have heard anything new from Rusko, so this is a nice change of pace. I guess what you would consider a throwback in the world of popular electronic music. Today's instrumental song is by a duo called Mustard Pimp. This song has more of an intense and pumping sound to it, so it sounds so freaking sick! This song and style of music is very unique, You hear other groups with maybe a couple songs that have the same feel, but Mustard Pimp makes this his signature and he builds off it in so many phenomenal ways! I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!

Gold Fields and Hurts

Image
Today I have a song by a band called Gold Fields. I really enjoy this song because it has such an amazing sound. It definitely has a very typical indie sound, but there is something about this song that makes me love it so much! I just think it is a very well composed and performed song and the melodies and harmonies blend so incredibly well! Today's instrumental song is a cover by a very interesting band called Hurts, and I have to say this band makes me so happy! They have such an awesome and different sound that just works so well. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!

Ne-Yo and Enhiezma

Image
Today I have a very interesting twist to a somewhat classic song. This song is one of the most well known Disney masterpieces, coming from one of the greatest animated movies of all time. Aladdin is first of all, an absolutely incredible movie. Second, the music score in this movie is absolutely spectacular. What really caught my eye when I went back to revisit these songs, is that Aladdin was among the first Disney movies to feature a very jazz-centric score and soundtrack. Every song has that great energy that comes with being part of a huge big band kind of song. So that in itself is such a one up compared to other Disney songs. Now what makes this version of the song even better, is that this version is song by the acclaimed R&B artist, Ne-Yo. Seems weird doesn't it? That is because no one would have expected a song like this to be redone by an artist like Ne-Yo. When you look at his track record of music, jazz and big band is not a part of that. Neither is Disney music to ...

Atif Aslam & Shreya Goshal and The Thief of Baghdad

Image
Today I have some foreign music for you, in particular, some Bollywood music. I haven't posted a song like this in a long time so I thought, why not? The wonderful thing about Bollywood music is that it has the ability to be something so full of energy and fire and is something you want to dance to. However, it also has the ability to be the most beautiful thing you have heard, whether happy or sad, and it can touch your heart even if you don't understand the words. This song is one of those songs that connects to your emotions. This song is just so incredibly lovely and the balance between male and female vocals is perfect. These are two of my favorite Bollywood singers, Atif Aslam and Shreya Goshal. Both of these singers have voices that are like magic. Now I have to say, I do prefer Atif Aslam's voice over Shreya Goshal, however, the two of them sound so incredible together. The thing with Indian music is that there must be chemistry within the song and between the singe...
