Today I have the rap world within the Grammys for you. Now the winner of the Best Rap/Sung Collaboration is by the one and only Eminem. Now of course Eminem is absolutely phenomenal and I feel like there is not much else to say about this song! It seems like a lot of people know about this song and it is not necessarily imperative to further analyze this. It is ridiculously catchy and super good. Rihanna and Eminem are a very good collaborating duo in both production and musical sound. Today's second song is by the one and only, Childish Gambino. His album was nominated for Best Rap Album and this song in particular was nominated for Best Rap Performance. I actually love this song by Childish Gambino. He is extremely clever with his lyrics and is quite funny at times as well. Childish Gambino doesn't rap about arbitrary topics like a lot of other rappers do, and he knows how to work his words so that they get his message across while still being very catchy. Today I am indeed continuing with the Grammy trend. But today, I have the film awards taken care of. This first song is form and album that was nominated as the Best Compilation Soundtrack For Visual Media. Long title, I know. However, this category consisted of some wonderful music. Now this song that I chose is the one song that I hadn't really heard much about. This song comes from the movie Get On Up: The James Brown Story. Now, I am a huge fan of James Brown. Talk about a guy who knew how to sing and put on a show and prove to the world that everything is possible. I have not seen this movie yet but I am dying to see it! This movie is a biography, but like the kind of music it features, this film has soul. There is so much more to this film than being a typical historic film. This song features so many incredible song renditions and Chadwick Boseman sounds so phenomenal as James Brown. Today I have music for you by two artists that were nominated at the Grammys. The theme for today is dance and electronic music. This first song is by the artist who was nominated for best dance recording. Zhu is an artist who seemed to kind of pop out of nowhere. Zhu is an artist who has stirred a lot of thoughts within the EDM community for a few reasons. First and foremost is the anonymity. While we do know now who Zhu is, there is still this level of remaining a mystery that he maintains. He isn't signed to a big label and does not have a huge website that blasts his music and artist related goods. He releases songs when he feels like he is ready and usually through Soundcloud. His method of live shows is also pretty mysterious and low key. I mean it is literally just flyers that get handed out! Today I have some more Grammy nominees for you. Today's theme is urban and R&B, and do I have some interesting choices for you. This first song is by Mali Music. I won't lie to you, the first time I heard this name in the industry was when the Grammy process started. I am so sad that it took me this long to find him and fall in love with his music, but I am glad that I got to! Mali Music has such a wonderful music and a great sense of song composition. This song is extremely catchy and is something that you will be singing even two days after hearing it. Mali Music has an absolutely gorgeous voice and is one that you can't forget. From the beginning of the song, Mali Music has you captured and captivated by his voice and piano intro. And from then on we get to hear his lovely voice and we hear all the gospel and R&B influence that he has. But what we also get is this Afro-Caribbean sound as well and some incredible vocal layering. Mali Music just amazes me with this...

Today I have some new music for you that I absolutely had to share with you! Now both of these songs are by EDM artists, and while they may not have won a Grammy, they have won many Brit Awards. This first song is the newest release by Madeon featured Passion Pit. Madeon is one of my favorite DJ's out there and is honestly one of the best DJ's out there. His style is very unique and can be pretty easy to spot. Madeon really likes to thrown in that disco and funk influence into his music which makes it something that is energizing and fun to listen to. Now Passion Pit is one of those bands that are know for making synth pop work extremely well. For a DJ so young , I cannot believe how mature and experienced his music sounds. Every synth is properly placed, every melody carefully crafted. In this song we get the Madeon style and energy and we get the flawless electronic melding from Passion Pit. Today was one of the biggest award shows of the year- The Grammys. For those of you who don't know, this award show is the biggest music award show in America and features performances from a lot of incredible artists from a spectrum of genres. Now I do have to say that I have my own opinions about The Grammys. For me, lately The Grammys have been more of a celebration of who has the most popular songs on the radio rather than who wrote or composed or produced something that is a masterpiece. That being said, I am quite happy that Beck won quite a few awards this evening because he is an absolutely phenomenal artist and is one of the best folk artists out there right now. However, I am very disappointed that Ed Sheeran did not win any Grammys tonight even though I think he deserves one. But then again, a lot of artists who desereve these honors don't get them.
