Keeping It Fresh

Today I have music for you by a band called The Shins. The first time I heard this song was in a movie trailer. Now the movie itself has not come out, but this song really got me. This is one of those songs that makes you think of wide open skies and sunsets on the beach. It reminds me of scenes from movies where people are actually having a good time and are living life to the fullest. They are with family, exploring the world, and learning more about themselves. This song has a really good sound to it for a lot of reasons. For one, this song uses the conventional rock instruments to make the background audio. You can clearly hear the guitar, drums, keyboards, and synth. Each sound is so distinct but they come together so well. One thing that I thought was kind of cool was the fact that the chorus is what we hear at the beginning. Normally songs do not open with the chorus, but this song does and it serves as a great introduction. This song is a really special one when it comes to in...

Today I have some music that ventures into a different realm of music. Today, I have music for you from the world of K-Pop, and more importantly the world of TVXQ. Now, sometimes I feel that K-Pop has many stereotypes attached to it, but not all of these stereotypes are true. For example, this is the first song I had ever heard from the world of K-Pop and totally loved it! I honestly don't know why it took me this long to post a song from this side of music. This song has a really edgy beat to it and the whole song flows really well. Not to mention the fact that they all have great voices. Though this song is older, I still think it is an awesome song! The beats are dirty and the music definitely has this exciting and edgy sound to it. This song is kind of a mix of a dance song and R&B which I think sounds freaking awesome in Korean. Even though I don't understand the words to the song, they way TVXQ sings and the stylization of the music give me an idea as to what the song...

Today's song is by a lesser know band called Band of Horses. The lead singer has a very distinct voice and style of singing that is very soothing and it sounds great with the music. The song is kind of sad, but I really love this band and this song. Its so nice to listen to when its raining outside....this song is a beautiful blend of soft, soothing music and rock. Band of Horses is a band that really knows how to get into the depth of music and lyrics combined. The lyrics are not always as easy to understand and the music is gull of complexities which gives the song depth. Though the instrumentation seems simple and clear cut, there is more happening in the background than you may realize. I think that is one of the things that makes Band of Horses stand out. They maintain their style of music and character throughout, but add many layers of separate thoughts and ideas to make up what we hear now. This is a band worth checking out in the future and just to really listen to. Today...

Today I have some music for you by Michael Jackson. I recently got some really bad news and learned that someone I knew had passed away. I wanted to find a song that kind of described her and how abrupt her life was ended. It was kind of a huge shock for me and my fellow teammates. Honestly, this is going to be a shorter post than normal. But this song has an inspirational orchestral in the background that captures both the melancholy and has a tone that reminds us that life is something to be celebrated. This song is perfect with its piano opening and closing. Michael Jackson offers the most perfect voice and lyrics for this song and what it entails. Today's instrumental song is from the movie The Return Of The King. This score has a melancholy and uplifting sound to it which is what times like these encompass. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!

Today I have music for you by the band Echosmith. Honestly, this song is one that would have fit in perfectly with The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty. This song is really sweet and romantic. It kind of reminds me of what I want in a man. I think the first think I paid attention to was the lyrics. There are a lot songs out there that are girls telling guys what they should and should not do for a woman. But this is the first song that is not annoying and really makes me blush a little. I like it because it talks about the girl's perspective and then the lyrics go into what the guy needs to do. The lyrics are so very sweet and they are words that every girl wants. I think these are lyrics that should be heeded by guys but that is just me. I like how this song stresses the idea that a relationship is a two way street. It is not just about what the girl wants, but it is about the common feelings that the both of them share and the way the two of them feel. It serves as an outside view of ...

Today I have some music for you that falls on the sad and melancholy side of things. Today's song is by one of my favorite vocalists, Andrew Belle. As a solo artist, Andrew Belle has a style that is completely his own and falls into the group of lesser known, more underground artists. It is a shame that artists like this are not more prominent because songs like this are some of the most beautiful. Andrew Belle has a simplicity in his music which makes it even more powerful and moving. He sings with so much passion and soul, but has a slightly gravelly voice which is to die for. It gives this song a more vulnerable sound to it. I got chills listening to this song because it has an ethereal background while also having something that is so grounding. The lyrics of the song are so beautiful and sad and even romantic. The chorus line, the question he asks, it is emotional and meaningful. The vocals Andrew Belle provides adds so much to the meaning of this song because he does sound so...

Today I have a really cool sounding song by a band known as Phantom Planet. I only recently heard about this band and this song and have realized how much I missed. This band is so weirdly awesome. That is the only way I can describe it accurately! This song has this cool charm and suave to it while also being energetic and being something that you can't help jam to. The liveliness of this song is so infectious and wonderfully awesome. This song has so many phenomenal things going on in it. To start, the opening is a blast of energy that sets up the rest of the song. This song has moments that are actually like 60's pop music which sounds really incredible with the other musical characteristics we hear in the song. It is kind of cool though because in this case, the pop-esque sounds kind of give way to more of a power pop feel. But this pop-esque feel is brought to us more from the actual instruments rather than the synth. In fact, this song has little no pretty much no synth w...
