Mat Zo and Arty

Image
Today we're heading towards the EDM and electronic side of music. I recently went to a show where Mat Zo was the headlining artists, and my goodness was I blown away. As an artist, Mat Zo has been known to dabble in genres that are kind of all over the place. Specifically though, he started out with trance music, and that is exactly the kind of show we got. Electronic music has taken on this interesting evolution, growing and shaping into different styles all the time. And there are definitely some things I love about the electronic music scene now, and there are definitely some things I am not a huge fan of as well. Now Mat Zo takes us back more old school. His set list was full of the progressive house and trance style we had around 2008. The pronounced beats, runway style sounds, and smooth synths to polish it off. I mean this show had everything! And I have to admit, I thoroughly enjoyed jamming out to the kind of electronic music which made me fall in love with the genre in...

Tritonal & Jonathan Mendelsohn and Julian Jordan

Image
Today I have music for you by Tritonal. This duo has been part of a lot of music buzz and popularity, and this song can tell you why. Tritonal has a very clean style of making music. Many electronic artists don't clean up their songs to make them the best they can be, but Tritonal hits the mark every time. These past few years have seen amazing progress for this duo and a little bit of evolution in their sound. This is their latest single and it has taken a slight turn to the house side of things. This song does have a nice combination of trance and house, but it tends to lean more on house. While this is just a sampling of the song, it has a very complete and round sound to it. We are exposed to the phenomenal vocals provided by Jonathan Mendelsohn. This guy, talk about incredible vocals. It might take a few listens to hear it, but right before the first drop you can hear Jonathan Mendelsohn screaming distantly in the background. And this isn't one of those dubstep crazy screa...

Super8 & Tab and Ferry Corsten

Image
Today I have some music for you by a Finnish duo by the name Super8 & Tab. Now this is the trance music of old. I mean the original trance that we used to love and listen to. This is like rave throwback music, which is so cool because this style of music actually used to be really underground. And in a weird way, it has come back full circle and has returned to the underground scene. A lot of clubs and dance venues play house and trap nowadays, but you do have those more underground places which would be more likely to play music like this. That sweet and sensational trance music. It is really nice to know that this song came out in 2014, and that it still sounds like that old trance. This song is honestly kind of a masterpiece in itself. Maybe it is because it has been a long time since trance music like this has been put out, or maybe because it is genuinely freaking awesome. I like to think that it is a combination of the two, but then again, that is just my o...

R3hab & Dyro and JETFIRE & Happy Enemies

Image
Today I have some good, solid electronic house music for you. In particular, I have some Dutch house for you, by the one and only Afrojack. What is Dutch house you ask? In a nutshell, Dirty Dutch is that electronic music style that incorporates a lot of Latin beats and rhythms, with less emphasis on the bass and high pitched synths. Actually when you listen to Dutch house, we don't really hear that high pitched and squeaky synth that we get from other genres. Which I am not complaining about because that gets to be way too much for me sometimes. But this song is actually the remix done by R3hab, another Dutch house artist, and Dyro. This remix is a fast paced, action packed song. I mean this is the kind of song that can keep you pumped up for hours, especially when on the workout grind. This is actually on my workout playlist because if is so full of energy and has that relentless thump that makes it nice and rhythmic. R3hab is an artist who has dabbled in different styles of music...

Kids of 88 and The Naked & Famous

Image
Today I have music from a duo called Kids of 88. This group has done a phenomenal job with this song. It can be something you chill to, dance to, or work out to. This song has such a great beat and the melodies have this unique type of energy that really gets the blood running. The sound is just so awesome and addictive! There is a lot of energy to this song, but not in an intense electronic way. This song has a very cat walk sound to it, a sound that makes you want to strut your stuff wherever you go. It kind of makes you feel like a boss, doing your own thing and making your presence known to the world. I don't know why, but this song fills me with this incredible confidence that is borderline caulkiness, and is also a weirdly seductive sounding song. This is the kind of song that would make me want to flirt dangerously so, but words wouldn't be needed. It is all about the actions and facial expressions. But this song showcases Kids of 88's ability to seamlessly combine e...

Avicii & Nicky Romero and David Guetta

Image
Today I have music for you by two of the biggest names in the electronic scene. To be honest, when you put Avicii and Nicky Romero together, you can't go wrong. Its literally two sounds of awesome that come together to create something phenomenal. I really like the way this song feels and they way the tracks are layered onto each other. This song is just kind of magical because it has so many feelings mixed into one. But all of these feelings are bright, like happiness, love, and fun. I could not stop dancing to this song because it has that infectious energy that tends to pervade your entire being. Which is great! Today's instrumental song is one of my favorite songs by David Guetta. This also has such a great dancing feel to it and both the instrumental and vocal versions are incredible. The bass isn't too dominating and there is more of a melodic flow. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!

Dmitri Vegas & Like Mike and Firebeatz

Image
Today I have a really interesting remix for you today, including the likes of Dmitri Vegas, Like Mike, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Apparently there is a way to make the Chili Peppers sound even cooler than they already do. The transition is pretty good, not as smooth as I would have hoped, but still pretty sweet. To be completely honest though, these guys make up for it with the wicked main lines.  And the overall drop, beat, and melody of this remix is pretty darn sick. Today's instrumental song is by the artist known as Firebeatz. This song has a phenomenal drop to it. There is the element of bad assery behind this song and you can really feel it course through the veins and fill you with this intense energy. And this feeling is so good because for me personally, it makes me feel like doing something wild. It also kind of reminds me of something that could be used for a super fight scene, but that's just me. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!

Jus Jack and Tiesto

Image
Hey guys! Didn't get to post yesterday, quite the long evening. But today I have such a great, euphoric song for you all by Jus Jack. This song has everything you need for a great trance song-awesome melody, great transitions, and incredible vocals. This does have a Tiesto feel to it, but I really enjoy this song and I was definitely fist pumping in my room and mentally fist pumping in the gym. One of those songs that takes you to another state of being which is just the most amazing feel in the world. Today's instrumental song is by Tiesto and by putting these two songs together, you might hear why I find them having similar styles. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!

Krewella and DotEXE

Image
Today I have some music by the artist, Krewella! This song is pretty awesome! It can be a dancing song or something that you just chill to. Her voice is fabulous and the drop is so sick! Krewella got really popular within the last year, and despite the fact that one of the members dropped off, they are still making really great music. Krewella is an interesting mix between dubstep and house sounds, making them the kind of act that has the versatility to fluctuate between the two. This song is definitely dubstep based, which means there is a lot of the more robotic sounds in it. A lot of times dubstep can get a little too much for me because the DJs overkill the robotic/video game sounds. But Krewella thankfully does not do that and saves that intensity for the drops. The underlying bass is pretty heavy so it sounds incredible with the volume up! Today's instrumental is by DotEXE. This song has an awesomely chill but a pretty intense sound as well! This song is something you can rea...

Hurts, Alesso, & Calvin Harris and Mat Zo

Image
Today I am so incredibly happy and excited to share this song with you! This song features three artists that I love so much because of their talent and genius musicianship. Alesso and Calvin Harris are electronic tycoons that bring huge amounts of energy and sick beats. The two of them together brings a really cool mix to the table. Alesso tends to lean more towards the house or trance side of music. He is all about the atmospheric feeling you get when listening to music. I personally think Alesso is a bigger and more influential member of the EDM circuit, as he is one third of one of the biggest groups to exist (Swedish House Mafia). Now Calvn Harris on the other hand tends to lean more towards dance pop. Or electropop. A lot of his work features guest vocals, or he is the guest producer. A lot of the really big hits out right now have Calvin Harris written all over it. So when you put the two of them together, we get this awesome blend of different electronic styles. Now Hurts provi...

Rusko and Mustard Pimp

Image
Today's song is by the English DJ, Rusko. I have to say. this song is pretty damn great! It isn't one of those dubstep songs that throws a bunch of heavy lines together, but it actually has a melody, harmonies, and just the right amount of underlying bass. Plus, the vocalist is pretty good too! This song has a slower beat, like some rap songs, and it sounds awesome! It has been a long while since I have heard anything new from Rusko, so this is a nice change of pace. I guess what you would consider a throwback in the world of popular electronic music. Today's instrumental song is by a duo called Mustard Pimp. This song has more of an intense and pumping sound to it, so it sounds so freaking sick! This song and style of music is very unique, You hear other groups with maybe a couple songs that have the same feel, but Mustard Pimp makes this his signature and he builds off it in so many phenomenal ways! I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!

Morgan Page and Now You See Me

Image
So today I have some music for you by the always entertaining, Morgan Page. This is actually a remix of a sound by The Outfield, and it kicks some serious butt! I love this song so much because the vocals are great and there is a very dynamic hook in this song. I found myself dancing to this song and doing some head banging, so hopefully you will too! Today's instrumental song is from the movie Now You See Me. I have to say, pretty great plot twist in this movie, and you might recognize the similarities to The Count of Monte Cristo in it. Even though that may have given the movie away to some, I don't want to say anything else but that I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!

Adrian Lux and Oblivion

Image
Today I have a song for you by an electronic artist that I am absolutely in love with. Adrian Lux has such an incredible sound to his music. There is always a certain feeling that he evokes with the melodies and harmonies within the song. This song is particular has a darker energy to it, but it is one of those songs that makes you want to explore the darker depths. The first time I heard this song was actually on Teen Wolf. I don't quite remember when they used this song, but I can clearly imagine what kind of scene they would have used this song for. It makes me think of either a dance or when something intense is about to happen. I personally find this an awesome song to workout to, especially running. It has that deep thrum that forces you onwards. Today's instrumental song comes from the movie Oblivion. I have to say, this soundtrack truly is a masterpiece. I highly recommend that you all listen to it at some point because it will blow you away. I hope you enjoy the music ...

Disclosure and Cedric Gervais

Image
Today's song is by the cool, suave, and sick duo known as Disclosure. Sorry for the lack of posting last night, but exciting news, I was travelling! Currently in San Francisco, a place that has some of the coolest music, especially when it comes to street artists. But there is also quite the electronic crowd out here, so I thought to post one of those kinds of songs. This song has such a great beat and almost a groove feel to it. To top it off, it features Mary J Blige who is a queen in the music world. This song is just so catchy and bumping, its hard to not like this song! This song is so brilliant with the mix of funk and and R&B voice while incorporating the usual electronic style of Disclosure. Purely awesome! Today's instrumental song is by Cedric Gervais. Awesome song, great beats, and a phenomenal climax! What more can you ask for? I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!

AN21 and Blasterjaxx

Image
Today's music is all about that big room house style. This first song is by AN21 and features Max Vangeli. It has a good beat and some pretty sweet drops. Plus the fusion of a piano chorus is pretty awesome! It seems that this harder style of EDM is starting to take a backseat in favor of house and trap. However, these songs are the ones that make you want to rage, and we shouldn't forget that! I thought it would be a nice change to get some music like this out there, so happy raging! Today's instrumental song is by Blasterjaxx and really pulls the crazy dancer out of you. Or just crazy in general. This song has so much energy and makes you get out there, its just something you have to do! I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!

Nicky Romero & Krewella and Steve Aoki

Image
Today's song is a really good dance tune/hardcore jamming song. This is a collaboration done by two very talented artists, Nicky Romero and Krewella. There aren't any songs by these two artists that I dislike which is so freaking awesome! The drops are awesome and the throbbing bass is phenomenal. This song has sick written all over it, especially with the meshed sounds and vibes that make these two artists so different. Today's instrumental song is by the craziest DJ out there, Steve Aoki. Not only is his music brilliant, but he is one crazy guy. A perfect combination! I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!

R3hab, Nervo, & Ummet Ozcan and Maddix

Image
Today I decided to post some hardcore electro music because its kind of freaking awesome. This first song is collaboration done by R3hab, Nervo, and Ummet Ozcan. This song has fantastic drops that lead into these cool synth sounds and a weirdly great beat. The vocals are nice and the entire background music is so solid and full. Definitely a good mix done by these three! Today's instrumental song is by Maddix and this song is severely sick. It moves from an intense electronic sound to a smooth trance feel with some house and then transitions back to sweet beats and this persistent energy. I really like the underlying bass you hear at 3:41 because it's pretty mind-blowing. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
