Alesso & Conor Maynard and Avicii

Today I have some new music for you by DJ that has consistently been tearing up the charts. Now I'm not talking within the past year two but over the past seven or eight years. Alesso has made a name for himself, with not only remixes but also incredible original tracks featuring incredible vocalists and producer is across all genres and music types. The song, in particular, is one of his newer tracks and it is one that I was hooked on from the first listen.

So let's talk briefly about Alesso as an artist. He has done so much and his music style has progressed and changed over time. Obviously, this is to be expected from an artist, and Alesso's growth has been in a direction that is very different and interesting for the ears. But there's something to be said about a kind of consistency which can be heard in his music. He never really strays too far from Progressive house sounds or just house in general. And what is nice about Alesso is that it never feels like he is boxed into a genre or specific musical sound. He always seems to branch out and try different things within the vast realm of house music and I think that's quite unique. It feels as though Alesso is developing and trailblazing within a specific style of music that he clearly enjoys. That being said one of the things that I really love about this song, in particular, is that it reminds me of an older style of house and club music. and when I say "older" I mean a few years ago. EDM tends to function a bit like technology in the sense that the growth and development are so fast that something that was around maybe 5 years ago seems extremely old. But I digress...

In this song, Alesso transports us to a different realm of being by connecting with us on an emotional level. This is one of the beautiful and special things that Alesso and few electronic artists like him are able to do - allow us to feel and move through different emotional states without the accompaniment of a live played instrument. The song has such a sweet message and is all about the inspiration and Euphoria of discovering a connection which is the remedy for loneliness. The song feels and sounds so bright and colourful and is filled with good vibes, all of which make the song come to life. Normally don't like to post music videos for songs but I feel like, with this one, the entire experience is focused on the vocals and lyrics but more important, the visuals. This song isn't about EDM, and it isn't about beats and bass. This song is trying to tell a story and it is such a sweet story that you almost can't fully grasp the song without the video.

So the music video is one that is easy to follow. There aren't any crazy editions or insane movie effects or anything of that sort. Again the focus is on the story that's trying to be told, so the video makes sure that we can clearly understand. even the lyrics are pretty simple and straightforward with very little needed for interpretation. But that allows the theme of the song to really permeate every part from the video to the lyrics to the vocals and even to the instrumentation in the back. There is a euphoric atmosphere, one that is driven by this theme of finding the cure to loneliness. With Conor Maynard providing the vocals we are able to really feel all the emotions that this song contains. His voice allows us to feel the initial bleakness of everything and the brokenness of being lonely. But we also get to feel the tremendous joy and happiness which comes from no longer being alone.

This song might just be the anthem going into 2019 and is one you will be hearing in nightclubs and festivals all over the world!
