Speaker Of The House and Kygo
Today I have a remix of a song by one of the most popular solo artists of the past few years. Ed Sheeran has developed quite a reputation for himself, of not only being a talented singer and songwriter, but of being a phenomenal aritst and musician. He is also one of the artists who seems to cross all boundaries. His music is often categorized as pop muic though he finds way to incorporate rapping into his work. For some songs, the delicate and beatiful instrumentation is set as a background to darker and and more melancholy lyrics. And though he is an English aritst, he has won an award for being the most influential artist in black music. It all goes to show that to Ed Sheeran, music is something that has no boundaries, no stereotypes, no definition tying it down.
Now the thing I love about Ed Sheeran's music is that it has the ability to be interpreted and remixed in so many different ways, and this particular remix is done by Speaker of the House. I have to say that this is one of my favorite remixes. The track has this chill sound to it that makes it something you can listen to almost anytime. It has that laidback and slightly mellow sound that makes you feel really good inside but also calm and kind of in this transcendent state. This remix is one that maintains the musicality of the original song while still making providing a unique and differnet spin on the orignal song. The song is still able to sound completely different from the original. But Speaker of the House does the most perfect job of making this work. There is something about how soothing this song is that makes it addictive. I haven't been able to stop listening to this song for a while and I think for good reason. Speaker of the House took that mellower andblusier sound that Ed Sheeran has and turned it into this incredible tropical house mix. The orginal soundscape has been transformed into a mood-lifting rendition, keeping the piano chords and Ed Sheeran's soul, but throwing in some varied rhythms and synth oriented track, with bits and pieces of the orignial acoustic sound. Speaker of the House seamlessly blends deep tropical house sounds with the soulful work of Ed Sheeran, and has created something that is ambient, atmospheric, transcendent, and sensational.
Today's instrumental song is another remix done by one of my favorites-Kygo. This is the master, and can even be considered the father, of tropical house and remixing songs to that kind of sound. I have yet to hear a song that he has done that I don't like. Kygo is so incredibly talented and I can't even begin to describe how hard and much work it must take to make a song sound this good as a remix. He knows how to keep a song's intention and artistry and still make it sound like his own. Kygo is a genius in his craft and I love him for that. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
