Craig David and Montell Jordan
Alright, now that we have officially kicked off the new year, I wanted to talk about a throwback song. I know, I know, the new year should mean new music. But to be fair, we have had exactly one day of 2018. And I also wanted to kick off the new year with a song that had a fun and retro vibe. So here we go!
This song first came out in 2002 and is by the British singer, Craig David. It's hard to imagine that 2002 was technically sixteen years ago! Oddly enough, it doesn't seem that far off. But songs like this have really defined the millennial generation. I mean, these are the songs that we grew up with! These are the kinds of songs we jammed out to, the songs we played at parties. These are the song of our not-so-distant-past childhoods. And this song was an anthem for not only the dance floor but was the iconic song for some of the hottest toys out there. But that is beside the point, isn't it?
This song is what we could call a "club banger. The early millennial music is full of this dance-pop style of music. The beats are funky and have that classic groovy feel to it while mixing in newer and more relevant genres. You have rap, hip-hop, R&B, and more joining on this funk train. In this song, we get more of that R&B and dance feel, the kind of song that has a suave attitude and mean beats. The song, of course, is ridiculously catchy. The energy is absolutely infectious which is a very characteristic of millennial hits. While the lyrics leave much to be desired, we cannot deny the unbelievably contagious energy found in the song. Even the chorus is wickedly catchy and gets us all singing along with ease. The production in this song is absolutely perfect and gives us that fun, bouncy, and even a bit seductive kind of energy. It blends together all the popular sounds of the early 2000s - the highly robotic and technical sounds, the smooth mix of genres, and this idea of producing earworms. This song easily gets stuck, and that kind of fun-loving and energetic vibe is really what this song is about.
While this first song is on the shorter side of my blog, hopefully, it is still a good one you all enjoy. Keeping a lively and fun spirit, today's instrumental song is another fun and bouncy track. This is another song that kept us moving in our younger days and remains a classic earworm. Throwing us back to the days of funky hip-hop and danceable beats, this song is by Montell Jordan, one of the classic artists in the early 00s. His music is sianture and something we can all recognize and jam out to.
Keeping this in mind, I hope you enjoy the bumping beats! I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
