Jonas Blue & Moelogo and Rudimental

Today I have the latest release by the DJ known as Jonas Blue. This DJ happens to be one of my favorite secrets, one of those artists who isn't as popular yet but is on the way to stardom. Why? Because every single track I have heard by Jonas Blue is euphoric. His music tends to be uplifting and hopeful with his music. Even when talking about something like a breakup, Jonas Blue somehow still makes it possible for us to feel good and full in our souls.

This track is a bit different compared to the other work we have heard by Jonas Blue. While a lot of Jonas Blue's work is made to dominate our summer playlists, this track is a bit more heartfelt and soulful. In the track, Jonas Blue explores the idea of romance and falling in love. He takes on the journey that a passionate and fiery relationship can have- falling in love after the first date, being happy and in love, only to eventually leave each other heartbroken. And while this seems like a rather dreary topic, Jonas Blue executes it so beautifully.

The production on this track is incredible, marking Jonas Blue as a talented producer and songwriter. True to Jonas Blue's style, there is still a bit of tropical house and Afrobeats in this track. But everything seems to be mellowed out more, trying to reach this point of soulful ecstasy. Jonas Blue produces this track to tell a story that is driven by untamed feelings of the heart, leaving us a bit wistful and hopeful at the same time. The guitar laden track leaves a breezy and lighthearted sound, a brief pizzicato progression before the vocals start. The shimmering guitar work and pleasant bassline create a blissfully soothing and warm soundscape. The song even goes so far as to be a bit hypnotic, drawing us into the story and world that the track seems to occupy. One thing I absolutely love about this song is that there is no sense of a "bass drop." Jonas Blue doesn't make it a point to have a climax in the song, rather, engages us in a way that we feel the wave of emotions in the song. He draws us in the way a beach bonfire does on a summer evening. He lures us in with a sound that effortlessly recalls something beautiful and vivacious and bubbly. He connects with us, as the song enchantingly captures the difficult blend of sadness and hope.

That blend is also made more apparent by the vocals in the track, provided by Nigerian artist Moelogo. This is my first time hearing his voice, and I was so enamored by it. There is a wistfulness in his voice, a soft longing which captures so much emotion and feeling. Even with just a few lines, Moelogo has us sold on his voice. When Moelogo sings, it feels like a genuine expression of longing and wanting, missing someone you once had. That gentle rasp that we hear is just the icing on the cake. His voice lets us get completely lost in the music. Backed by a choir during the chorus, we are transported to that place of soulful ecstasy. We get to that place where our head gets quiet and heart is set free. And that feeling is one that is hard to come by.

I have to say, Jonas Blue and Moelogo really nailed it with this track. Some may say that the sound is far off what we are normally used to hearing from Jonas Blue. But I rather like this track! In fact, it's one of my favorites by Jonas Blue, if not my favorite. The sheer vulnerability in the song is both commendable and moving. And after hearing Moelogo's voice, I will definitely be spending some time checking out his music.

Today's instrumental song is by the Rudimental. I absolutely love this group. I am not sure if they have put out anything that I have not liked. This is a newer track which was released and has that wonderful tropical sound which has become so popular. Rudimental brings it all together by giving us a catchy beat and chorus, laden with steel drums and smooth guitar plucks. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
