Ryan Hemsworth & Frank Ocean and Coldplay

Today I have a really smooth remix of a song that I was in love with for so long. We all know how incredible Frank Ocean is. I mean the man is a beautiful singer and knows how to create a record that really sticks. This song is one of Frank Ocean's most popular and is the song that really put him on the R&B map for us. However, Ryan Hemsworth has taken this song and turned it into a really nice chill-hop song.

Ryan Hemsworth has no relation to the trio of Hemsworth brothers by the way. Thought I should probably clarify that from the get go! But anyway, Ryan Hemsworth is a DJ from Canada, and he tends to bring us some of the coolest and suavest electronic music this side of the world. Ryan Hemsworth mix of styles always leads me back to his chillwave and chill-hop kinds of sounds. Ryan Hemsworth openly embraces R&B and hip hop in his mixes, which I really love. He is able to turn these songs into totally different vibes and I find that impressive and fun to listen to. Each song takes on a completely different mood and tone and feeling. He makes each song a new one and does no different with this song.

What we get in the beginning of is a soothing R&B beat introduction. It's nice and muffled, as if far away. This already sets the tone of the song to be something that is definitely chilled out and more along the lines of being lounge or atmospheric music. Frank Ocean's voice is slowly faded into the audioscape so that we get to hear the main chorus line softly resonating in the background. Eventually, Frank Ocean's lyrics and voice are brought into the song and we get to hear his original song layered on top of some really nice beats and synth lines. This remix heavily relies on synth melodies set atop a groovy bass line. Ryan Hemsworth goes with a sound that is both dynamic but down to earth and grounded, hence the synth and keyboard work. Ryan Hemsworth basically takes the original song and adds a few tweaks to prop the song up and give it a little bit more oomph. Stuttering rhythmic lines and the additional bass adds a club like sound which makes this bootleg a great addition to any playlist.

This bootlegged remix is less a remix than just being a fine tuned version of Frank Ocean's original song. Ryan Hemsworth did a great job of keeping Frank Ocean's voice as it was in the original song, making sure that not too much gets changed. The vocals remain at the forefront of the song, while we still get that sexy and seductive sound which is so present in the original song. Ryan Hemsworth is able to take a song that is naturally so brilliant and turns it into a evolved version of itself. That is what makes this song so great. It doesn't stray away too far from what Frank Ocean originally sang, yet it has more energy and liveliness. Ryan Hemsworth is definitely a master of creating phenomenal bootlegs to different kinds of songs. His work with this song and others like it go largely unnoticed, but I can guarantee that your ears will be hooked from the fist moment music is heard.

Today's instrumental song is another one of those chilled out and chillwave kinds of song. This song is by the one and only Coldplay. The album which this song belongs to is also one of my favorites, if not my favorite of all the albums the British band has put out. This album was so emotionally charged and heartbreaking, but so beautifully composed and executed. This song has been the source of so many mixes and covers and for good reason. Based off a humming bass line and repetitive electric guitar line, this song's simplicity evokes so much. True to its name, this song has the capacity to make us imagine the night sky, beauty found within the sheer darkness of it all. And shimmers of light twinkling because of the stars. There are so much poignancy and spellbinding beauty within this song, and I found it to be a lovely addition to the first song. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
