Aly & Fila and Armin Van Buuren

Today I have some music for you by an electronic duo out of Egypt. When I first heard Aly & Fila I got really excited. Nowadays it is so hard to find some really good and solid trance music. However, these two deliver us some really good trance, and better yet, they top it off with some sick Arabic influences. This duo hails from Egypt, a fact that made me even more excited. It isn't often that we hear music like this in general, and even rarer to hear this style of music from the Middle East. So this little taste of Egyptian electronic music makes me quite excited! But Aly & Fila do an incredible job of capturing that trance style of music which was so popular in underground European music scenes during the early 00's. This song has everything we could ever really ask for in a good trance song. We have the ethereal vocals which kind of carry on throughout the song. We've got the longer buildup which brings us to this high paced and full energy kind of drop. But the thing about trance is that the beat never really drops. It takes on this vivacious kind of sound which persists. The melody tends to take over control rather than the base of the beat, and so that is what we get to hear more of. This song is one of those weirdly feel good songs. The energy is always nice, but the way the female vocals weave through is just perfect. The fact that the female vocals take on this transcendent and ambient kind of sound, adds so much to the song. The way trance is supposed to work is that it transports you to another state of being. Hence the genre name. And having these feathery and phantasmal vocals only amplifies that feeling of drifting outside our conventional surroundings.  So if you have been looking for some good old trance music, Aly & Fila is the place to go! They also tend to throw in some Arabic and Middle Eastern melodies, which always makes for a gorgeous and enchanting sound. Today's instrumental song is by the king of trance, in my opinion, Armin Van Buuren. This man is literally a genius of electronic music. The trance music we get from him is so pure and full of life and energy that it is simply impossible to ignore. This song is full of that same kind of spunky fire and energy that trance can have. Armin Van Buuren takes us on a more intense journey than the first song did. But, this song also has a lot more for every kind of electronic music listener. We have the concept of a drop, a killer trance melody, and these awesome genre switches. And it looks like Armin Van Buuren does it all himself. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
