A R I Z O N A and Mr. Probz & Robin Schulz
Today I have some music for you by a trio out of Boston who goes by the name A R I Z O N A. I want to start by first talking about the band. This is a fairly new band, and starting releasing music in 2015. In just about a year, they have really made a name for themselves in the underground music scene, enough so that they actually are starting to break out of that sector a bit. What I like about A R I Z O N A is that their music doesn't cater to a specific genre, but is focused more on a specific mood and vibe. Their music is definitely more along the lines of being ambient and synth oriented. They focus on the more obscure side of music, one that doesn't really fit into a boxed in genre. There are experimentation and free form to the music creation process, and all three members of the band are involved. From songwriting to producing to performing, A R I Z O N A does it all. The main sources of instrumentation come from the keyboard and guitar, which we actually hear quite prominently. The melodic rhythm is held beautifully by the guitar, and the keyboard is in charge of all the synth pop sounds and melodies. We don't necessarily hear piano though which is a cool deviation from what the members have been trained in. A R I Z O N A keeps the instrumentation fairly simple actually. There aren't a lot of instruments jumbled together to make the song come together. I really like the way A R I Z O N A keeps that simplicity there because it adds this really nice sense of calm and tranquility to the song. This isn't a song that is meant to get you hyped up or energized. It is meant to be a more relaxing and soothing kind of sound. This is a seamless and mellow electronic track, and that carries through the song from start to finish. What is nice is that the songs are mellowed out enough to chill out to, but still lively enough to bob your head to. That balance is one of the best places to be! Soft guitar melodies and soft and airy vocals give this song that chill vibe. This is the kind of song that can put you in that nice dream state, they way that only music like this really can. I do love this song and really enjoy that A R I Z O N A is exploring something different. They are creating their own shapes and boundaries, and tend to go outside of the normalcy of things. But that is what makes their music flow so well and feel so good. Today's instrumental song is by Mr. Probz. This song was pretty popular for a while, but for a good reason. This remixed version by Robin Schulz really reminded me of the first song. Believe it or not, Robin Schulz also remixed the song by A R I Z O N A. The styles of each song are very similar, and the mood is as well. There is quite a bit of similarity between the sounds of the two songs. This has a bit more of a tropical twist but still has that nice laid back and calm kind of sound. There are shimmers within the percussion that highlight parts of the song, similar to the way that is done in the first song. I really like this remix as well because it has such a great vibe and beat. Not too fast, not too slow, and definitely not too energetic. This isn't a song that makes you want to jump up and down all day and all night. Rather, this is a song that sounds like a summer evening on the beach- fun and relaxing. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
