Postmodern Jukebox and The Jungle Book

Today I have some music for you from one of my absolute cover groups ever. This group takes songs that we all know and love, and turns them into the jazziest renditions and it is wonderful. Postmodern Jukebox is possibly one of the most creative and fun and incredible artists I have ever heard. The ability to take a song that is extremely popular, and cover it with an original style is hard enough to find. But to then take that popular song and change the entire style of the song to reflect a different genre and time period? Well, there is a reason there is only one band out there like Postmodern Jukebox. Their work is nothing short of magnificent. The creativity that flows through each and every one of their performances is endless. Turning rap songs, rock songs, alternative songs, and pop songs into jazz and swing jams is just the beginning of their ability. Postmodern Jukebox composes each rendition and performs every instrumentation on their own. The melody changes, rhythm differences, and even the vocal cadence is all composed by Postmodern Jukebox. I have nothing but respect for the members of the group and the vocalists who bring the songs around for us to hear. With today's song, we have an older pop rock song from the 90s. Now I had never heard this song till I heard the Postmodern Jukebox version, but I still loved this cover from start to finish. The original song was written and performed by the band known as Hanson. Actually, this song was nominated for the Grammy award for Record of the Year. I mean this song was an absolute hit, a global phenomenon even. The song is an energetic and light-hearted one, and we get to hear that in this jazzy re-work. We get a bit of a barbershop quartet kind of sound with this rendition. There is an infectiously fun energy to this song, an energy that you can't help smile and bob along to. This is the kind of song I can catch myself dancing to. It reminds me of what diners would play in the 50's, and I love that! The harmonies and timings in this song are so perfectly arranged and performed. This song pools together some of the best parts of music during the 50s, and gives it such a modern twist. There is so much charisma and charm with this song and it cannot be contained! The dapper nature of all the performers is also a plus. Each member of the singing quartet exerts impressive control over their voices. And the bass singer? I was not expecting a range so wide from him! That was just the icing on the cake. Postmodern Jukebox isn't stopping anytime soon and I am so glad for that. I am extremely excited to see how they continue to cover songs that the charts deem popular. It will be a wonderful ride for sure! Today's instrumental song is from the movie The Jungle Book. Now this movie is one of the rare Disney movies to be based on a jazz sound. Each song is written to be a jazz number, and I love that. The Jungle Book reflects that untamed fun and wildness that jazz is all about, and that is something that I find to be entertaining and lively. There is no lack of fun when it comes to music like this, and this song was just such a perfect compliment to the first song. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
