Ella Eyre and Clean Bandit

Well, it has been quite a while since I have posted, and they have definitely become more sporadic this past week. But with exam season over, I am back in full swing with some great music headed your way. So to start this off, today I have some music for you by Ella Eyre. This is a girl who is not well known but should be because she has so much talent. Ella Eyre not only creates her own incredible songs, but is one of the best collaborators I have heard. She has worked with groups ranging in style from Bastille to Rudimental. Honestly, I think that is extremely impressive. Something about the way Ella Eyre works and the way she sings is so fierce. Not the stereotypical Beyonce fierce, but something that is strong and bold. She is a vocal powerhouse and can belt out the highest of notes, and yet can still become soft and vulnerable.  Ella Eyre pursues a sound that is really different from a lot of what we hear nowadays. This song is pretty percussion heavy, but I like that a lot. There is a mix of percussion, from drums to tambourines, to piano and keyboard melodies. I think the part of the song that first made me fall in love with it, is during the first chorus. The beginning of the first chorus is her singing with the piano and some drum beats but then gives way to the next verse of the chorus where we get a beautiful blend of sounds and vibrancy. There is this wonderful synth filler that harmonizes incredibly well, and of course, the brass blaring is a perfect compliment to Ella Eyre's own belting. Now, this song is hard to dance to, but it is still rhythmically pleasing. It switches from slower rhythms to something upbeat and faster, coming back to a slower and calmer rhythm. But then it crescendos and crashes into this wave of energy that cannot be held back. It's the kind of energy and excitement that you feel the need to sing the lyrics loudly to the sky and just scream and sing your heart out. Ella Eyre has a voice that is sweet and raspy and soulful all at the same time. She has that kind of voice that meshes very well with this style of instrumentation, a mix of pop and retro and drum and bass. Just like her music, Ella Eyre has a voice that is so many things at once. It is a cry of power, it is soothing, and it is raw energy. Her vocals are vulnerable but strong, sweet and husky, delicate and powerful. It is so hard to find that in a vocalist and even harder to find that maturity in a vocalist who is only 20. I hope great things happen for Ella Eyre and I honestly believe she has an incredible future. Today's instrumental song is by another really great artist called Clean Bandit. This song is pretty popular and for a good reason. Not only was the vocalist amazing, but Clean Bandit themselves are just so freaking great at what they do. This is very funky and disco-ish but something that is uniquely British. I know that sounds weird, but there are some songs that just have that specific British sound. No one else can copy it and both songs have that sound. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
