Tame Impala & Miguel and Doctor Strange

Today I have music for you that is a remix of a song by the artist Miguel. However, this song was remixed by the alternative band Tame Impala. This is a band that is easily remixed, a band that can be stripped of its big drums, killer bass lines, and aloof vocals. And Tame Impala has had their songs remixed by a few R&B artists like Rihanna! However, with this song, Tame Impala is able to turn the tables and cover an R&B song. And to cover a song by the sutlry and smokey Miguel? Quite a risky and interesting move to make. However, I think Tame Impala really pulled this off. Miguel's music is rich and full of guitar and bass lines. He is an artist that has been warming towards more rock elements, which makes him such a fantastic choice for Tame Impala to cover! What is cool about this remix is that Tame Impala legitimately makes it a remix of the original song. The lead singer doesn't make his own vocal rendition of the song, but folds Miguel's crooning and emotive singing in detailed synths. This song is one that relies heavily on the synths to create a really round and whimsical sound, one that gives Miguel's original song a dreamscape to play though. Tame Impala took this pained song and gave it a blanket of warm synths and rhythms to give the song body and depth beyond the more emotive moments. There is a bit of a transcendent 80s groove to this song, and I really like that. It gives us more of an ability to get lost in the song and get transported to that state of ecstasy. This song is one that is very easy to get lost in, and that makes it a very unique and special song. The work done in this song between Miguel and Tame Impala, is nothing short of amazing. There is a great balance between styles and originality. I would love to see both artists do an official collaboration, because it is clear that there is so much chemistry in the way the music weaves together.  Today's instrumental song comes from a movie that very recently released, Doctor Strange. Now this movie is one that is extremely interesting for a number of different reasons. This is a very thought provoking movie, one that brings about thoughts on science and spirit and the idea of multiverses. This movie was like a combination of Inception and Doctor Who, one that addresses some of the most interesting and unknown parts of science while throwing a mind-bending spin on the overall concept. This is a movie that is a marriage of magic and science and is executed so beautifully and vividly. And true to the movie, the soundtrack is one that is very dynamic and explosive. This is a soundtrack that covers so many different emotions and styles of sound. From haunting strings to bold brass and horns, this soundtrack is a very powerful arrangement of sound. This particular track is one that takes on a more haunting and mysterious piece. Drawing on the themes of this movie, this composition is a masterpiece that is enchanting and mystical.
