Troye Sivan and Astrid S

Today's music is by an artist I had the pleasure of seeing perform this evening! Troye Sivan is a singer out of Australia, and he is possibly one of the most adorable performers I have ever seen. Not only is his music that is soulful and fun, but his demeanor is just as chilled out and sweet. When he was on stage, you could see the ecstasy of music running through his body and he moved with the flow of the song. I loved watching him perform just as much as I did listening to his music. Troye Sivan is an authentic performer, one who easily shows his carefree nature and passion for music. But his music, well that was something beautiful.  Troye Sivan has an enchantingly unique sound, one that has started to pick up in popularity, but is also a lesser known genre. I don't really know how to classify his sound, but the closest I would get to is a mix of indie pop, indietronica, and R&B. The beautiful thing about Troye Sivan's voice is that it has this soft richness to it that makes it perfect for more acoustic ballads or moving songs, but it is also simply splendid and pretty much perfect for songs with heavy electronic layering. Troye Sivan is one of those artists who sounds just as incredible live as he does in recordings. I won't lie, a lot of artists that were popular within the past few years did not have a track record of being great singers live. By Troye Sivan is an artist and musician who is delightful to listen to live. His voice is soft and sweet but has a rich depth and warming soulfulness. His voice is vulnerable and comforting, a voice that is genuinely splendid to listen to. Every one of Troye Sivan's is a poetic masterpiece. I have not heard lyrics like his in a very long time, and I love the artistic creativity behind them. There is this intricate depth to the words, things that are easy to understand on the surface, but also offer immense meaning. Every one of Troye Sivan's songs has had exceptional production. I mean every beat is perfect, every melody, the mix of synthesizers and keyboards and drums and pianos. I mean the seamless inclusion of so many differing elements, and the ability to have all of these work euphoniously. Well, that is quite the testament to the production team's skills. But again, this also shows why Troye Sivan's voice is absolutely perfect because he can pull off all of these different sounds and auditory territories. This song is something that is completely unique but somewhat familiar, bold and unassuming. Troye Sivan openly explores the deeper and longing parts of human desire and condition. Not only does Troye Sivan mention these lustful parts, but he dives into them willingly. He takes on those rougher topics and immerses himself in a way so that he can truly understand without getting lost to it. Of course, it helps that a lot of these thoughts and emotions are things he has been through, but I find it almost magical that he does discuss these things. This is definitely one of my favorite songs by Troye Sivan, and the wonderful evolution from classical to electronic is food for the soul.  Today's instrumental song is by the opening act of the evening. Norwegian singer Astrid S. She has a haunting style of music, a sound that is capable of being beautiful and melancholy while maintaining a quiet spark oh something better. Her music ranges across emotions, but her overall sound is that smooth electronic chillstep kind of sound. Her music often relies on synthesizers to complete her sound, but this song is specifically designed to be acoustic. Astrid S has many acoustic versions of her music and I love that! This is a song that trends towards the more pensive and mellow side of music. But she is impressive, I can definitely say that much. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
