Draper and Lorde

Today I have some soulful chillstep for you. Weird I know, but something that I actually really really like. This song has a little bit of a Flume feel to it, but is a little less intense and a little more fun. But there are some stylistic elements that both Draper and Flume share. But what I like about Draper is that he still gives this song a little bit of a bubbly sound to it. This song is one that makes you feel both happy and chilled out all at once. But one thing that I am actually super happy about is the fact that Draper brings back the glitch hop kind of sound. Glitch music has taken a bit of a backseat, with people favoring standard EDM or trap styles. But this is so well done, and the glitches give the song this almost ethereal kind of feel to it. To be honest, I think this would make an awesome contemporary dance track. But I digress a bit. This song has this really smooth blend of glitch work and R&B, something that goes very well together. When you look at a lot of music like this, often times the vocalists are R&B or soul singers for the sole purpose of providing that range of nice and high falsettos and that lower grumbling kind of pitch. The suave smoothness that these kind of singers has is also the perfect compliment to music that has synths following the same pattern. Both the vocalists and music have that awesome flow that blend and mix and crash into one another to create songs like this. I think this song is a great example of glitch hop, and is one that I cannot get enough of. Definitely part of the sexy music playlist. Today's instrumental song is actually by Lorde. Haven't really heard much of or seen her lately. But while I am not necessarily a huge fan, I do enjoy some of the songs. This song was actually remixed by Flume and that is a pretty nice kick back song. I mean everything that Flume does is brilliant, so of course I really liked the track. But I put up the original by Lorde because when you strip away the vocals, there is a slight amount of glitch work happening. You have to really listen for it, but it is there and is usually easier to feel than to hear. But weirdly enough, the way the bass and synths work, make this a song that compliments the first one really well. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
