Amy Winehouse and Nat King Cole
Today I have music for you by an artist who is one of the most iconic singers of the common era of music. Amy Winehouse had a voice that was sultry and powerful, a voice that was recognizable anywhere and everywhere. Her voice is a beautifully raspy voice which gives her songs that feeling of being lost in a smoky jazz room. Amy Winehouse was a woman of many gifts and talents, most known for her vocal capabilities. She is the kind of singer who captured the calmer and the more subtle and provocative nature of jazz music while being very upfront and open about mouthing off. There is a very charming nature to her music because of that, and it is hard to not be seduced by her originality and creativity. One of the things that make Amy Winehouse such an icon for this generation, is her modern twist to an older style of music. Swing and jazz were once the most popular sound, and Amy Winehouse beautifully takes that style and makes it her own. She adds her own rebellious spirit to the music, and by doing so, makes it something we can all relate to. Amy Winehouse has a rather deep voice as well, so when she really hits those rumbling notes, it sounds absolutely spectacular. She is also a master of the voice crack, perfecting the moments when a little bit of that vulnerable crack is necessary. Being able to flaunt that vulnerability is what makes Amy Winehouse's music something we connect to. Her edginess comes from the ability to sing about topics that are deemed controversial and strange. But Amy Winehouse chose those songs, she chose to make her music a little punk-ish and a little bit romantic. The difference between her and other artists is that Amy Winehouse does a killer job of making her music appealing. She has an undeniable charm that seems to root itself throughout the discography of her music career, and that charm and grace and elegance is what allows her the chance to sing the smooth tunes of jazz music. Amy Winehouse perfectly blends her passions for punk rock and swing and jazz, a feat that few have ever accomplished. Amy Winehouse is an artist that is currently underrated for reasons I don't' want to know. But the raw talent, influentially moving music, and personable persona that Amy Winehouse had is what made her an icon. Her confidence and style are what helped put her on the map for all of us to see and hear. The stage was more than a place to perform but became part of a song and show that should never be forgotten. Amy Winehouse was a beautiful soul and I hope that one day we will meet an artist who is capable of singing the wonders and beautifies of the world withing a few seconds. Today's instrumental song is by one of the kings of swing and jazz and the blues. Nat King Cole is another artist who knows what it is like to go through hardships and trauma the way we have?I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
