DWNTWN and Henry Krinkle

Today I have some music for you by a band that has done a cover of a song by one of my favorite bands. DWNTWN has done an absolutely phenomenal job covering this song by The 1975. A lot of times covers can go really well or very terribly, but this cover surpasses the "really well" category. This cover is incredibly well done. The first thing that I noticed when I heard this was that the song is still true to the style of music that DWNTWN makes but also maintains the musical integrity of The 1975. The second thing I noticed was how they seemed to completely change the song and turned it into something very unique. This version of the song includes a lot more synthesizers and keyboard work to make it what it is. DWNTWN turned this 80's beat kind of song into something that has a very trance like and ethereal sound. The thing is, they managed to mutate the melody in a way so that it sounds like the original at the very base of it all, but the layered harmonies and intricacies make the song sound completely unlike the original. There is an overall brightness to the song that is not there in the original and a more Ellie Goulding kind of sound. Now what I mean by that is that there is a featherier, lighter, and softer touch to this cover. The female vocals definitely add a very interesting kind of body the musicality of the song. The female vocals follow the same melody line as Matt Healy, but she adds a little of her own flairs and grace notes to give this song more of an upbeat and light hearted kind of sound. But her voice is also very perfect when you add the other musical components in. A lot of the typical band instruments such as the drums and guitar are less heard in this cover. A lot of this song rests on the shoulders of the vocals to carry the song forward and keep it moving. Of course, the added electronic work and bass line gives the song more body, but everything seems to follow this very smooth flow. This song just feels like you are pouring water over something and the smooth and beautiful flow of that water is what this song sounds like. It has that calming effect while still being dynamic. This is a song that is very dreamy and has this wonderful kind of chill and calm associated with it. This is the kind of song that you could listen to when it is raining outside, when it is sunny, when you are driving down a quiet highway and the windows are down, or just sitting and enjoying the fresh air and beautiful sky. This is the kind of song that puts your mind in another realm of being. This synthpop makeover is simply beautiful and completely different from most covers I have heard before. Today's instrumental song is by an artist known as Henry Krinkle. I won't lie, he is a lesser known artist, but is an amazing one. This is the first song I ever heard by him and I fell in love. This song is so calming and just has this beautiful smoothness to it that makes it something that you can really feel. Even though this is a song that uses a lot of electronic work, it is still something that you can really feel and is a song that can get your body moving a little bit. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
