The 1975 and The Imitation Game

Today I have music for you from one of my favorite bands ever, The 1975. I realized that despite the fact that they released a new album, I haven't actually posted about the album! The greatest thing about this band is that they are the biggest band that nobody has heard of. I mean when you go out into mainstream media and music, The 1975 is not a name one hears. Their music is something that isn't heard and from the surface, more people seem to have no idea who they might be. But when they come in town for concerts, you see lines of people waiting to get into the venues, fan girls, everything! The 1975 has such a low key and quiet following, but a huge one. And that is kind of an amazing thing to be able to have! Of course the reason why The 1975 is able to have such adoring fans is  because their music is incredibly relatable. Many of these topics are that which we see everyday, but the views on these ideas and thoughts are unconventional and raw. There is a natural honesty to the words of The 1975, something that not many other artists can claim. Not to mention their take on pop music. Yes, this is a pop group. Not indie, not alternative, but pop. But this is what pop used to be like, something believable and appealing to many because it is believable. I appreciate that so much about The 1975. They create music that I not only love listening to and find catchy, but they write smart lyrics that can really make you think. Now today's song is more of the slow side of The 1975. Not that the song is actually slow...to be quite frank this song still has a pretty nice beat, one that is a soft thump to go along with Matt Healy's ethereal vocals. But this has a really great atmospheric and ambient sound. I meant this song has this abstract feeling to it, something that makes you feel in free form. Strange I know, but somehow it makes sense. I love the musicality of this song, keeping with the signatures sound of The 1975, but with more of a laid back and calming sound. Matt Healy takes more of a soothing and floating kind of style for his vocals, and that makes the whole song feel as though it is floating. I don't know how they do it, but there is something incredible special about the way this song was produced. The song is like a kaleidoscopic mirage of styles, yet works with such a gentle and sweet flow. This album is a different piece of work for The 1975, but who says that different is always bad? Today's instrumental song is from the movie The Imitation Game. This was a spectacular film, one that was not only well written and produced, but beautifully scored. This is an interesting score for sure, taking on the sound elements of the machines which are featured in the film itself. Creative and lovely, this is a score that is so unique and well done. This piece in particular is quite the pleasant composition, one that is softer and gentler. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
