Kaal and Dhoom

Today I have some Bollywood music for you that comes from a weird era in Bollywood. This was a time when there was this desire to rapidly Westernize and be a little funky, and while this may have seemed cool at the time, it is very interesting to look back on and see. However, the music that came from this 4 year period is pretty freaking great. The dance music especially, was pretty much awesome. Now some of the things that made this music so much fun to listen to was the fact that there was so much energy to it. From high impact energy to the more semi chilled out energy, there was so much msuic that was just enjoyable to listen to. This song comes from the movie Kaal, one that I have never seen, but was one of my favorite songs of my early teens. Even now, I listen to this song and still love it because it is just such a great song to jam to. The beat is really smooth, something that you can definitely dance to, and weirdly enough I wouldn't mind hearing this at a club. The chorus is also a little bit sensual which makes it even more fun! The song starts off with this soft and almost calming line, and then gives way to that more energetic feel. What is cool about this song is that there are actually four different vocalists, two female and two male. And what makes this song so hype is the fact that we get to hear all four vocalists sing at the same time and harmonize with each other. Even though this only really happens in the chorus, we still get to hear how well the four singers can meld together and form a single voice. This is something we don't really hear much nowadays, and these rare times when we get to hear that blending ability is spectacular. This song is snappy and catchy, which is another bonus. The ending of the song is also really abrupt which actually works in the song's favor. A lot of times when this happens, I feel like the song still feels unfinished. But this song feels and sounds completed with that swift cut at the end, and it seems to really work despite the fact that there are a lot more smooth parts to the song than sharp and staccato. I have to be frank, Indian music like this is something that is a little bit more of a rarity which is so sad because this style is actually my favorite. But, as long as I have these tracks from the past to listen to, I think I will survive. Maybe I will even watch Kaal because of this song...Today's instrumental song is from another older Bollywood movie, but this film also falls into that same time range as the first song. This song has always been one that I have loved, and I won't lie it sounds pretty dope as an instrumental, but it sounds wicked with the lyrics. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
