EDEN and The Revenant

Today I have music for you by an artist out of Ireland. EDEN is an artist I recently heard, and I was immediately captivated. I mean, I couldn't pull away from this song! This song is eerily enchanting, something that we all actually love hearing, but don't necessarily realize. This song has so many great things happening in terms of production. All the pieces of this song come together so perfectly, even more perfectly than clockwork. For starters, the instrumentals are phenomenal. I mean they are ridiculously superb. Now the reason why, is because there are layers, so many intertwining layers that create a full body of sound. There is never a moment when the song feels like it is missing something, never a moment when the song seems to be off set or off balanced. The actual music production is simply stunning. The synths and keyboard take up a lot of the work in this song, being the source of complex melodies and harmonies, but also providing a sense of ease and a sensation of something transcendent. The song starts out with this rolling buzz and throb while the lyrics start unfolding. And at some point a female vocalists makes an entrance and accompanies the male vocals. But once the chorus begins, we are hit with a blast of bass, balancing out the pop and electronic moments. EDEN has such a powerful but haunting voice, and that has to be something that really brings this song together. That sense of strength is found throughout the song, and that captivating darkness is felt throughout. The final chorus is a crescendo of layered vocal harmonies, with one shining line from the female vocals, creating that one ray of light and clarity. There is so much artistry that has gone into the composition and production of this song. The incredible depth and complexity with which this was created is astonishing and I am so happy to be able to share something of this caliber with you all. The beauty of it all is in how simple the song seems to sound, when in reality, it is woven from so many different lines and sounds. This kind of electronic music is harder to come by, but that makes it even more enjoyable. This song is so beautifully crafted, a true piece of art. EDEN recently released an EP, and I plan on going through and listening to the rest of his work because this is something truly hypnotizing. Today's instrumental music comes for the Oscar winning movie, The Revenant. It is a very good movie, however, is one that is very intense. The story though is so incredible and inspiring. There is a lot of darkness that surrounds this movie. It is not the easiest film to get through, and there are so many elements that showcase the dark parts of humanity. That is what makes this score so spectacular. This score was written to make us feel the pull of hope and sadness at the same time. It is meant for us to feel both the dark and light sides of humanity. That is such an abstract and beautiful concept to capture in music, and this score does just that. The duality of the human soul seems to be recorded in this score, and that is something we don't ever really listen for and think about. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
