Bastille and Twenty One Pilots
Today I have the latest single by a band that I really love. Bastille hasn't released an album for a while, but has been working on producing new music and creating something new and different. Their debut album was on the darker side, something more melancholy and definitely introspective. In fact, all of their music to date has featured darker tones and melodies, something that has a ray of hope woven into the music. Bastille's music is instantly recognizable because of their unique tone and sound. I think one of the things that really makes the band stand out is the vocals provided by Dan Smith. He has a very unique and beautiful voice, one who sings very soulfully no matter what the song. His voice is sweet and soft, but has the ability to be strong when the song calls for it. Considering a lot of Bastille's music runs emotionally and heart wrenchingly through us, Dan Smith tends to stick with his smoother and kinder vocals, and I love how warm it makes his voice. Bastille is also known for their mashups and covers of other songs. Now these are pieces of art. I mean masterpieces! I have to say, the lesser known Bastille songs also happen to be some of the most hauntingly beautiful and poignant songs. These are songs that literally pull at your heart and make you empathetic towards the music. The level of creativity that is found within Bastille's music is absolutely incredible! And we get to hear a lot of that with this single. This is definitely on the funkier side of things, relying heavily on the bass guitar to give the song a little bit of a kick. Even though this is more upbeat and groovier than Bastille's normal work, there is still that distinct Bastille sound that really comes from the percussion. When you listen to Bastille's music, a lot of their originality comes from their off kilter percussion work. That makes their music so wonderfully unique and different. This song is a nice fun jam to listen to, nothing too crazy, but something that is nice and light hearted. The overall sound of the song is so much fun and is a funky change that I really like. It is a great sneak peek into the up coming album, and I know we are in for something interesting and great. Today's instrumental song is by a band that has become absolutely huge on the radio. Twenty One pilots started out as a small alternative band that has now grown to absolute stardom. I won't say I am necessarily the biggest fan of their newer music, but I do appreciate the the originality in their music. They don't follow the conventional forms of rock music, and I can appreciate that a lot. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
