Anchor & Braille and Lost

Today I have music for you by the musical project known as Anchor and Braille. For those of you who have never heard of Anchor and Braille or don't know much about them, this project was started by the lead singer of Anberlin. He created this project to record songs that had been written but never recorded with the band. Stephen Christian had written these songs, but these did not have the same energy and feel of Anberlin. Anberlin is known to be a heavier rock band with some more grunge elements to it. But Anchor and Braille takes the more indie and slow and sad sides of Anberlin and creates songs that really make you feel. These songs are more intimate, more personal. Every song I have heard by Anchor and Braille makes me feel something in my heart and my soul. The kind of emotions and feelings Anchor and Braille creates is one that is so indescribably deep and complex. I don't know if I have the appropriate words to describe these feelings but I can at least try. There is this level of depth and grayness that Anchor and Braille takes you to. You may not have even known that you had those feelings or thoughts within you, but Anchor and Braille is a band that brings up those kinds of emotions. This band makes me realize that there is a shade of grey to my being, a grey that can fluctuate between a beautiful misty grey, to the grey of the sky during snowfall, to the greys of a storm. Anchor and Braille seems to make every song sound as if it is shrouded in this soft, fine mist. This in turn extends the shroud to your own shoulders and you feel as if you are covered in that fine mist. Anchor and Braille makes you feel that mist within yourself. It takes you to that special calm and peace that is not necessarily happy but neither is it depressing. You find yourself in that happy medium when you feel like you are the only person in the world, and you feel attuned to that empty world. You connect to that beautiful silence. Like I said, it is a hard feeling to describe. But when it comes to the composition of the song, Stephen Christian can do no wrong. We get a lot of piano/keyboard and guitar with this song, but these instruments are not used in that conventional Ed Sheeran type way. Stephen Christian has a very special way of using these instruments and composing the song so that it still has a touch of Anberlin to it, but also has this unique sound. This song and the songs by this band in general have this spectacular blend of masterful and beautifully written lyrics, incredible vocals, and perfect guitar chords to make a song that not only keeps you intrigued, but keeps you listening because it has depth. Stephen Christian is one of my favorite male vocalists, and hopefully this song can tell you why. Anchor and Braille is one of the only bands I know who can consistently create ballads that are both moving and beautiful. If anything, this is the only band who can really really produce a ballad. And I am in love with that. Anchor and Braille is such a small band, but every song connects to you in a way that you couldn't imagine. Today's instrumental song is from the television show Lost. This show is one of the most popular dramas to date. While I have not kept up with the show and seen every episode, this song seems very apt considering the title. The cello solo in this song is so beautiful and almost hauntingly so. This song shimmers with hope in spite of the bad times. This song speaks of the beauty in sadness, the haunting feelings of leaving and reuniting at the same time, the ethereal sound of leaving someone forever. Michael Giacchino did a fantastic job with the composition of this piece. This is yet another song that makes you really feel. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment !
