The Killers and National Treasure

Today I have some music by a band that is nothing short of beloved in the world of rock music. The Killers are a band that have seen a lot of success and popularity with rockers, but in general, have been a band that have pushed their way towards the realm of popular music. Never really falling into that classification though, The Killers have done a great job of appealing to other music listeners while still maintaining their take on rock music. Now this song by The Killers is a really cool blend of sounds and musical styles. Of course, the basis of this song is their typical and iconic rock sound with syncopated drum rhythms and solid guitar work. But another really cool aspect of this song is that it employs the use of a gospel choir. Now this is something I haven't heard from The Killers before, and I totally loved it! The tone of this song has a slightly angelic theme to it, with gospel choirs and piano melodies that sing of redemption. That is something really cool about this song. The Killers talk about past mistakes and how difficult it can be to redeem yourself. But it also talks about not giving up, to keep fighting for everything. Now this song is more of a pop rock anthem rather than just a straight punk and alternative rock sounding song. This song has a lot of influences of classic rock, and in itself could become considered a classic. I mean this song has everything, from the energy to the incredibly strong songwriting to the dazzling performance and chorus. This song is infectious, making us want to sing along and join in on the ending chorus. It makes us want to get up and feel all of that soul, soaking it up and reveling in it. This song is not bright and happy, but is so uplifting. The Killers are a band that consistently deliver great music, phenomenal even. But this song is one of those that takes the cake and kind of blows you away. I mean everything about this song is so perfect, fitting together like clockwork. The vocals are full of life and soul, the musicality of the song is brilliant, and the way everything weaves together creates a masterpiece. The Killers have definitely killed it with this song. Today's instrumental song is from the movie National Treasure. Now Nicholas Cage gets a lot of teasing and flack for his performances, but this movie was actually fantastic. And the score is really well done, capturing the theme of the movie very well. There is a lot of influence from the colonial era of music and the sense of adventure is perfectly portrayed. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
