PKeys and Rudimental

Today I have some music for you by PKeys. Now I have to be totally honest, this is an artist who is underground enough to make it very hard to find any information on him. Which in a way is really good for him, maintaining the air of mystery and having us want to know more and more. Now this is a song that is a very good house song. What is nice is that it starts out with this beautiful piano and vocal solo, nothing else. The entire opening verse is just the vocals and piano, which already sets the mood of the song to be something that is not super intense, but is something that has a very good energy to it. This is not an overly energetic song, but it is not a relaxed and laid back song either. It is actually pretty cool how the only time the electronic elements come into play is during the chorus of the song. This is pretty different for an electronic song, which is why I am actually hesitant to call this a house song. It is and is not at the same time, and is definitely something I am not usually used to. But that is the beauty of the song! Throwing in surprises is always such an awesome thing to hear from an artist. But as soon as the chorus starts, we get this really nice sound, one that really utilizes the synths to make a bold sound. The vocals automatically get that muffled and fuzzy sound, once the other sounds are added in the mix. The kick drum comes in pounding, adding a high hat in the background as well. We get actually get a small number of synth/electronic melody lines. The rest of the song is done with just the drums, electric guitar, and piano. This is actually a really cool concept because the simplicity of the music  still leaves such a huge impact. The contrast between being a very full sound and reverting back to just the piano gives so much more emphasis on the chorus. It gives the chorus a bigger and more powerful sound while not necessarily putting a lot of loudness and instrumentation into it. The production of this song is stellar, I have to admit. And while I don't know much about PKeys, I will definitely continue listening to his music. This is something unique and completely enjoyable, and I want to know more about the music he creates. Today's instrumental song is by Rudimental. This is a group that I am absolutely in love with. Their music is so good to listen to, straddling that line between being energetic and having a nice chill out vibe. I honestly don't know how they do it, but it is pretty amazing.
