Cheat Codes and Kygo

Today I have a really fun song by musical trio Cheat Codes. I have recently been listening to a lot of music like this song, but man did this song really stand out. This is just such a fun song to listen to. It is such a great balance of downtempo and tropical sounds, something that I will never say no to. Cheat Codes is a group that is very interestingly popular. In some ways they have really gained some traction in the EDM community, but overall, they still remain as a part of the underground. I absolutely love the music that Cheat Codes comes out with because there is always a sense of progression. There is this general dance ability with their music, but they don't all sound the same which is very appreciated. It is very easy to slip into sounding the same when it comes to EDM. But I don't really find that problem with Cheat Codes. This is a really well produced song, one that combines a lot of different things together to get this fun and vibrant song. This is a nice and sultry song, one that takes deep house to one of its finest moments. There are some really wicked R&B characteristics that are in this song as well, making this something that has a lot of different vibes coming together to create something that is nicely provocative and deliciously entertaining. This is a song that makes you want to grab someone and dance with them. This is the kind of song that makes you really turn on the flirt, especially if you happen to be jamming to this out on the beach. Honestly the most prominent thing that I thin about when I listen to this song is a beach party at night, dancing with a blanket of stars above and just feeling the music. Cheat Codes has taken this classic song and given it such a nice tropical twist that it actually makes you want to go somewhere fun and sunny and beachy. I am so happy to hear that Cheat Codes is coming out with new music because they really are such an incredible and talented group of musicians. I just can't wait to hear what they release next! Today's instrumental song is by the father of tropical house, Kygo. This is one of the newer songs that he has released, and I have to say I am definitely a huge fan of the song. It is just so happy and lively and sunny and bright. Kygo has the ability to change anyone's mood for the better, with just music. That is quite the superpower if you ask me. Today's song is a really cool one out of South Africa by the band Kongos. There are so many awesome things happening in this song. For example the first sounds you hear is this really sick accordion work, and yes, these guys made the accordion look even cooler than any other musician out there has. I love the way they use the accordion and the tone of it. And then you hit the chorus which has these really strong vocals and you get the feel from the multiple voices with these sweet guitar licks and such a loud presence with the electric guitar. This song just kicks some major ass! Today's song is by the Beastie Boys, and is one of my favorite songs by them. Ima Robot and Tame Impala

Today I have a song for you by the band known as Ima Robot. Many of you will recognize this song because it is used in the show Suits. Disclaimer, Suits is a wonderfully fantastic show and I highly recommend you go watch it. Anyway, this song has a really cool and suave feel to it. It has that artsy urban grunge to it which I really like. It is a different way of performing rock music and takes you back to the 90's style of music. This song has a really cool charm to it because a lot of the song falls on the support of the bass guitar over the drums. The bass guitar serves as a secondary percussion to the rest of the instrumentals. It is actually kind of awesome how simple the instruments are in this song because when you bring the together you hear a really sick song. The main instruments are of course the bass guitar, tambourine, drums, and keyboard. Nothing else makes an appearance and I like it that way. The music in this song is so structured but so laid back at the same time.

Zayn Malik and Interstellar

Today I wanted to give a shout out to an artist who is both very famous and very underground. Most people know him as Zayn Malik, that guy who was in One Direction but left the band. So a little background, Zayn Malik was one of the five members of the famous boy band, One Direction. His departure from the band was all over the news last year, and I wont' lie, I felt bad for him. Not because he left the band, but because of what that meant for him in the public eye. It marked him as a huge target for papparzi and press, and I just feel so bad for him because he had to live in that public eye for so long. Which is one of the reasons why he wanted to leave. To live his life more quietly. So that of course, is a consequence of his level of fame. But on the other hand, we have his more quiet and surprising side.
